Wanting a kitten (rescue??)

I live in Kenai Alaska... I want to rescue a kitten from the Humain Society, but in Alaska we do not have one. It like my drem to rescue animals? What can I do? Is there anyone I can contact forn the lower 48 that could like get me se up?
