http://www.imagebee.org/images/4344dogzonked.JPG Fritz zonked out next to dad this morning.That is where he was when i got up,mom gets him when brings dad out to the living room and he comes up after being let out of his cage and stays right with dad.He had his porridge a,cereal and toast,is now content and with dad again.We had a flurry of snow overnight,done ours and another neighbots around the corner,she owed for two times and that was another $30.The neighbors across the street are home and can do theirs themselves now.A little rain tomorrow and almost 4o,by Tuesday supposed to be 50.clocks go ahead early Sunday morning,so set clocks ahead 1 hour before going to bed tomorrow night.

http://www.imagebee.org/images/765pokeyout.JPG I lifted the bottom part of the couch up and took this picture of Fritz sleeping behind the living room couch.Most of the mornings,he was with dad until i had my sandwich and he was there waiting for some.Spent some time in the window until he saw the mailman and he went nuts,so i grabbed him and held him on my lap,he settled down and layed there with until dad needed his feet put on the stool.Marlen was just here,ddin't realize until i heard her leave.Fritz probably gave her a big kiss.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/earlynapsy.jpg Fritz having an early nap on dad's lap.He is snoozing with Dad on the couch after haing cereal and porridge,no toast.When it comes time for bed,he is under the little rec room couch and i have to get a piece of meat to get him out,this time he stayed and wouldn't come out.Mom went up,so i guess he figured he was there for the night.He gradually came out and got the meat and i picked him up and put him to bed.I guess he doesn't like me doing it,usually mom does and he barked.Mom came down and told him to be quiet and go to sleep.I had quite a dream,i was either at a Montreal-Toronto hockey game or it was on TV,there was a fight on the ice and somehow Fritz was the middle of it.He was almost covered up onm the ice by the players fighting,he got out and was fine.

Barry I am laughing at your dream! I once had a dream that I had my Trevor (cat) with me at the movies and he began choking on popcorn! LOL! Glad these were only dreams! Fritz is so cute - always on someone's lap. :) I guess he is trying to keep everyone nice and warm and cozy! :)

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/lazydoggy.jpg Fritz on dad's lap this morning.He was bad last night.It was time for bed and Fritz is under the couch,I go up and a piece of Ham,he never budged,tried a couple of times going over and lifting the couch up,wouldn't go,finally near 10:30,he come out gave him the meat and picked him up,he growled,didn't bite and i put him to bed.he barked even when I closed the cage,mom then came down and told him to be quiet,he did and that was that .He is not much for eating toast and cereal,stays with dad,he did go out and he is now back with him.52 degrees today,rain tomorrow,maybe snow by Friday.

I think Fritz is picking up on Papa's feelings, Barry. It does seem that he's gotten grouchier and more territorial since your Dad has been sick. He knows it's his job to protect Papa and reflect his moods and disposition. You're a good boy Fritz and you're pretty cute too :)

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/cornernap.jpg Fritz in the kitchen corner sleeping this afternoon.He was good today,ate all his supper,had some of my dessert ,some cake and ice cream,plate was licked clean.Had a short play wis monkey.A therapist come to see dad,Fritz twice took her shoe under the table.Dad had a dentist appointment,a tooth is bothering him.Fritz is under the little couch again,hope i don't have hard time like i did last night.Watching Wheel of Fortune and there was a girl from Elizabethann's hometown of Candia,New Hampshire on tonight.Her name was Rebekah.She won $14,000 in the regular part and $25,000 at the end.Her mother Gloria and sister Kate were there to celebrate.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/hungryfritz.jpg Fritz having cereal this morning.Fritz also had toast,and a little bit of Porridge.Dad has awful trouble eating Porridge,starts coughing,so maybe it is better if he has Ensure.It wasn't bad getting Fritz to bed,he come out from the couch on his own and I picked him up and into bed.No problem,though he did whine a bit later.Fritz was wit dad,a worker just com eto see dad, and talk about his problems swallowing.Try some sort of powder that thickens up what the drinks so it will go down better.Once she was her,Fritz was fine.Shortly,someone is coming to do bloodwork,has to do with the Riluzole he is taking for ALS.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/mypal.jpg My pal Fritz snoozing on the pillow.He hopes that Dad will come home soon.For those who don't dad had to go the hospital,had trouble urinating ,so we called an ambulance and Mom phoned not long ago to say they had put a catheter in and he will be there 2 or 3 days.I am a liitle worried,but i am sure he will be home as soon as possible and be with his little pal.There are no beds available at our hospital,so now mom phoned to say he is going by Ambulance to Lakeridge Health Oshawa ,10 miles away.Mom sounds a little worried,she rather have him closer,nothing can be done about it.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/patient.jpg Fritz snoozing on the pillow late this afternoon,patiently waiting for mommy to come home from seeing dad.I went with Larry this afternoon to see Dad,I go into the room,mom says "Look who's here" and dad was happy and sad at the same time ,he was glad to see me,but i think he misses his little pal and he wants to come home,hasn't been told when yet,might be Monday,it's the weekend and not much testing is done on weekends.He did urinate a bit,that's good.He didn't have much sleep last night,another man in there talked in his sleep all night,dad didn't like it.he didn't like the food they had,potatoes and broccoli,so Larry went out to get some soup,we then got the nurse to go down and she brought back some Cream of Cauliflower,ate that up,Larry brought back Butternut Squash and had some of that.he had some tea,Apple Juice and ensure,has not had the coughing and choking problems he had here at home.He used a shoveling motion with his arms,askn if I had done the snow,I told him yes,he got into the crying,he misses doing the snowplowing.Marlene was on her way to the washroom when she saw a man with a little white dog,she asked what kind it was ,he said a Poodle.Marlene had him come in the room with the dog,he looked almost like Fritz.he brought him right up to dad,tried to get the dog to kiss him,no luck.The only reason i think the dog was there ,it might be a therapy dog.Marlene thanked him,he said no problem.dad wa happy to see the dog,din't get all emotional since it looked like Fritz.Dad wanted Mom and Marlene to stay until 6,so they are now on their way home.Shannon may go and see him tomorrow,that will cheer him up.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/watchyboy.jpg Fritz looking out the front window this afternoon.Saw dad again.Larry and i just got there and he had just come back from having x-rays.His prostate is enlarged and they are doing some procedure at some point tomorrow.They stuck something up his back ends,tomorrow it is the other way.i hope this all they do,Mom says he couldn't stand an operation the way he is.He had a good sleep from 7 last night to 6;30 this morning.Didn't like Corn Flakes for breakfast,but did eat Yogurt and had Ensure an some Apple Juice.He made a joke ,he asked if i had cut the grass,no,I said,too cold for that and snow on the ground.he asked about fritz ,he got upset again,told him where fritz had been sleeping.Lunch washed potatoes and some vegetable,hard to tell what,they looked soft and mushy,the way dad has to eat them.had to wake him up for supper,had potatoes,turnip and roast beef,all fixed up so he could eat it.Mom was ready to leave ton,Marlene wasn't,the nurses got dad fixed up in bed,still after they left,dad needed his feet moved again ,got out of there at 7,.Mom got big macs, she had toast this morning and had a doughnut all dayThe day is too long for her,is worn out and has a headache everytime she gets home,Jason was there for an hour and a half.dad liked that ,he got a hug and Jason hugged his mother too, wish Larry wouldn't be that stubborn and talked to his kids.He said while going in if one of his kids was there ,he wouldn't go in.Shannon hadn't got there yet,Jason was to get in touch and get her to go over.dad had wanted to get our Maple tree trimmed,so maybe one day this week,he will come and me and his brother- in law Brian will help.fritz is now under the little couch in the rec room,don't know where he ll sleep tonight.I just found out this was the first time in 3 years that Marlene and Jason,wish his Dad Larry would give in

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/ttowelguy.jpg Fritz under the dining room table with a tea towel.He had a sleep on it and would get up to move when he thought we might take it from him.The hospital phoned at 11 this morning asking when Mom was coming,dad was getting upset,wants to come home ,still hadn't done the procdure yet.I stayed behind this time,it was only Mom and Marlene going and Larry is at work,so I am here babysitting Fritz .He is up between the two pillows of their bed sleeping,waiting for someone to come home.Had a few wet flurries flying around here today,a little rain later and in the 50's by later in the week.Let you now what transpires.mom phoned at 25 to 4 and he hadn't had it done yet,was to be 10 am,they got behind,he is uneasy,mom not happy.Hopefully it will be done todayd,he can't have anything to eat until they do it and he hasn't ate in almost a day can't afford to lose anymore weight.Still nothing new.Larry phoned here,Marlene had phoned him,this was 6:30 and said they were taking him down.He just phoned again about 8:00,and apparently still had not taken him down,maybe 9-9:30 now.Mom must be fit to be tied with all these delays.Dad has had nothing to eat all day,he could starve if they don't hurry up with his .Turning out to be another long and trying day.fritz is upstairs,he could be with me,but i think he isn the window,he is missing his papa and so am I.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/dearboy.jpg Fritz on the pillow on the bed.he stayed up there all night,never came down to me,only to go outside.Not in good humour,dad tried getting out of bed today.Dad finally had it done tonight a between 8 and 9.Shannon and her husband came to see him that's good,he never looked at Marlene for some reason,at least he come.They gave dad some pills to calm him down,he can have a good sleep and have a better day tomorrow and can have some food,just had intra venous today,no solid food.We will need help here at home mom can only do so much.Don't when he is coming back here,maybe know tomorrow.

Awwwwww........you and Barry hang in there Fritzie. We know you're missing Papa and Papa is missing both of you. Being in the hospital is so hard, Barry. http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/underbed.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/bedtaffy.jpg Fritz under my bed and Taffy on mom's bed.Never got results from yesterday,Doctor never came around.Dad will stay there until Mom can get some help here,maybe later in the week or next week.We will have to take the bed out of the spare bedroom and have a hospital bed put in there.he was pretty good today,slept a bit,ate well,has had oxygen all day,kept taking that off,still has a catheter in from yesterday.he is still on anti-depressents,misses fritz a lot.He be a little too jumpy to take there,he would jump on him,don't want that.Some old family friends come to see him that have known mom and dad for over 55 years.Jason was there with his wife and two kids,Lauren didn't go to Marlene ,she is shy,Ryan the youngest shook Larry's hand.Ryan really didn't know Marlene,since she hadn't seen jason in 3 years.Larry was there,never said a word,at least he was in the same room and Jason hugged his mom again .At least his kids are making an attempt to reconcile,Larry is being stubborn,he talked to the kids ,not Jason though.Fritz is right up on mom's lap,he misses dad.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/chairynapsy.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/dreamer.jpg Fritz snoozing in the chair with his Monkey and in between the two pillows,dreaming of Papa coming home soon.They were hopin today he be able to be transfered to our hospital either today or tomorrow.Mom phoned at 12:15 to say he had diarrhea,so maybe tomorrow,at least he will be closer that i can see him.he was sleeping when mom phoned and they had to put on gowns,didn't want them catching some bug.Fritz ate all his supper performatrin with some gravy on it,cleaned off my plate of chili,them a bowl of ice cream.i was just finishing dishes and i turn around in the kitchen and there he is with the Monkey in his mouth,wantinga play.Had a very short play,he got tired,went to the bedroom,got into barking and is now in the window.I think it's too cold for doing the tree and there have been spits of rain,so I will see what happens.They were also waiting on the results of the procedure on Monday before deciding when he could be transfered back here.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/bednapsy.jpg Fritz in mom's bed this morning.He slept tight against her basck al night.This morning,was in the living room chair with her and was looking at the empty spot where dad sits.The doctor never did come,the nurse brought it up on ther computer and everything is fine.He had tests done for what they thought was diarrhea,nothting wrong there.Apparently there had been some sort of bug floating through hospitals, Mom and Marlene had to gown up,the other people in the room didn't not even the nurse,then later the opposite they gowned up and Mom and Marlene didn't.Didn't really eat much,had a little Ensure.Still not sure as to when he will transfered to the hospital here.Mom and Marlene going over later,Larry will come from work to take me over for a few minutes then bring me back.Jason came and trimmed the trees dad wanted done,dad will like that,me and my Uncle helped out.That's all there is for now,hopefully know a little more later.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/fritzyflippy.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/reflecting.jpg Fritz flipped over on the bed today and in the window looking out.It looks like the reflection is staring right back at Fritz.Nothing new to report on when dad is getting transfered,has been asking to come home again.Didn't eat much at lunch today,a little soup ,ate a little more at supper.Didn't sleep good last night,had a better one today.Mom saw Auntie Irene over there today,she was having a chemotherapy treatment.Mom says she does not look good.fritz layed around most of the day,either on the bed,in the kitchen or the window woke up to have some of my lunch .I think he is really missing dad,looks out that front window hoping he comes back soon,even stared at the spot where dad would sit.he had an ultrasound today,don't what for,there is nothing else wrong.They had to wear gowns in the room,still a bug in the hospital,even wiping the walls of the room.The third test come back ,he is fine ,he has no problems.Greenshield won't pay for the Ensure,will pay for it for cancer patients and Mom paid $ 12 to have our doctor to fill out the form,she is fighting that.Dad made the odd wizecrack,so he still has his sense of humor.

Fritz looks like an angel. I love the picture of him with his reflection in the window. Glad you got a little "all fours" nap Fritzie. Getting some rest while waiting for Papa is good. That's horrible to hear about that bug in the hospital. I don't think I've ever heard of the visitors having to wear gowns. I hope it's gone soon.

Sorry Auntie Irene doesn't look good. I hope and pray that the chemo is working. Have they tested her lately or does that come later, Barry? You and your family sure are going through alot of hardship. I'll keep praying for all of you.

Hi Barry and Fritz! I love looking at your pictures. I live in Ontario too when I am "at home" for the summer. There are very few pet dogs on the campus where I live but yesterday I saw one ( visiting) that looked like :D Fritz and I got to pet him for a while! I hope both Papa and Auntie Irene will be feeling much better soon .

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/nosytuck.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/bednapper.jpg Fritz last night with Mom,nose tucked in and in her bed this morning.Went to bed with her first,then out under the dining room table and he then come to me and after a few minutes,he went to Mom for the rest of the night.Mom and Marlene are going over shortly and Larry and will head over at around noon.A little more about yesterday's events.The man in charge of sending people home said everything that can be done medically is done and he should go to a nursing home.No way Marlene says,he goes home first before that and we will think about it over the weekend.The guy also says there is a 8 week wait for help,our caseworker says she could get it done faster.Larry tried phoning yesterday for a hospital bed for here,it was Friday and no one there.Marlene talked to the Doctor who originally diagnosed dad and he says dad is to go to Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and be put in the long term care ward.You still have to gown up overe there,they wash the wals and change curtains between beds.Dad has had three tests for this bug,he doesn't have it.A nurse could be in there just a couple of minutes and then out and would have to wear another to come back in.the doctor who did the prostate procedure never come by and had an ultrasound done,nobody who works on the floor dad is on knew what for.he was pretty good yesterday,ate good,drank some water,hasn't had any sign of this bug.Dad will probably ask about fritz and wil get upset.Fritz has really been missing him lately.He lays just inside the doorway to the kitchen and watches the back door hoping mom wil have Dad with her.

Barry your latest note brought tears to my eyes. Just reading how much your dad is missing Fritz and knowing that Fritz is missing him just as much is heartbreaking. I hope that you will get some answers and receive some help with his ongoing care. This is all so sad to us reading it, and I know how sad it is for you and your mom. http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/sadfella.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/sadboy.jpg Fritz in between the pillows and in front,pretty sad dad is not here,that is where he is now ,laying on the bed.It may not be Monday now,he started choking while eating today and they have to do a throat analysis on Monday.so we will see what happens.He was sleeping when Mom and Marlene went in and mom had to wake him up when Larry and I came.Dad didn't look as alert,they are giving something to sleep and he looks groggy, it looked like he was sleeping even though his eyes were open.He did know i was there,I gave him a hug,hard to see him like this without breaking up,i had a good cry when i got home.he did eat good,had potatoes carrots and chicken.Wasn't quite comfy in bed,needed a pillow under his feet,pillow behind his head adjusted and moved over to one side so he can hold onto the handrail.He knew enough to point to where he wanted the pillow and a rolled up blanket.He is now in a private room down the hall,gets to eat a little earlier.Mom and Marlene not staying as late,Marlene and Larry going out to eat and Mom and I are having chinese food,fritz will like that,he had his after i came home,so maybe he will get a treat.going again tomorrow,see how he is then.He is rather thin.i knew his legs were ,looks a little thin in the face.Dad was more alert later,had some Ensure,didn't each much supper as he had almost all of the Ensure.Jason and his wife Barb come in to see Dad,Dad wanted to hug Barb,he did.Had porridge is morning,drank some water,can't sit up now.Wants to ride the scooter,may never have a chance,no strength,asked Jason about the tree.Wants to come home Monday,we will see what happens.he is not happy that his brother Elwood and wife Maxine,my Aunt and Uncle haven't come to see him yet.

Barry, I am thankful that you have the camera and can keep taking pictures to share with us. It's good to have something to take your mind off things for a short time. I know it doesn't fix things but it might help. Fritz is such a great comfort to everybody.

http://usera.imagecave.com/fritz85/sungazer.jpg Fritz gazing out the front window this afternoon,probably waiting for someone to come home.Dad didn't really eat much today,drank a lot of water,probably bored being there and wants to be home.They have to do some assessment to do with his throat,then we will see when he gets out.Had oxygen on today his o oxygen level was slow,seems better tonight.they have said his breathing was good,so who knows about the oxygen.he did wake up enough to give me a hug,seems to want to sleep, probably what they give him to sleep.Wanted to sit up in bed,wanted me to help ,couldn't really do, just raised the back of by pressing a button.he can point to tell you to put a pillow under his feet.he does look awful thin, wristbones are showing more.My Mom and sister had to walk down 9 flights of stairs,fire in a elevator,nobody on it smelled of rubber.Hope we get somewhere tomorrow and he can come back here to the hospital,parking over there in Oshawa is $10 a day,gets expensive.

I know your Dad is probably really bored at the hospital, Barry. I feel for him. Nobody likes being in the hospital. I sure hope he can put on some weight and get closer to your home.

My goodness! $10 a day to park! I hope he can come back closer to home! I know how much you want him home now, but if they feel he needs a little more time so that they can properly evaluate him that is for the best. They will be able to let you know exactly what will be involved with his home care. (((hugs))) On a brighter note, I noticed that there is no more snow outside. Things will be warming up soon and there will be more activity for Fritz to keep his eye on outside. (birdies, squirrels, etc. :) ) Maybe that will help get his mind off the fact that your dad is still away.
