I'm not sure how many people are from Alabama on here, but I wanted to give this a try.

My boyfriend and I were eating last night when a woman knocked on our door to ask if a cat belonged to us. I told her it wasn’t ours, and she went to the next door. The poor think was limping on top of it; it wouldn’t walk on its front right paw. About an hour later, we heard it meowing outside. It was sitting at the top of the stairwell, meowing away. So my boyfriend and I took it in, set up a makeshift kitty litter box for it, and gave it food and water.

This little guy needs a home please! We can’t keep him since we already have 3 cats in a small apartment. I took this cat to the vet this morning and will pay for boarding fees until this Friday, February 2nd. They already did a leukemia test today, and that came back negative. The vet estimates his age to be at least 1 year old, no older than 2 years. It’s hard to tell the exact age.

While he’s at the vet, they will update ALL of his shots (estimated to be roughly $80’s worth, including a rabies vaccination), give him antibiotics for his right eye (a tiny bit of an infection) and for his front right paw. It appears the padding on that paw was scratched/injured, so the antibiotics should clear that up. They will also neuter him on Thursday ($65+) and check for worms (which will be taken care of if he does have them). They will also bathe him, so he will be nice and clean.

All of this is coming out of mine and my boyfriend’s pocket, and we don’t expect to be compensated for anything. We just want to find this cat a good home so he’ll be taken care of. I hope SOMEONE out there will take him in, especially since we are doing so much for him in hopes of finding him a good home. He is a VERY friendly cat! He loves to show affection by rubbing his head on your legs and hands! He’s so sweet, and I know he would make a wonderful pet for someone!

Here are a few pictures I took at the vet’s office. You can click an image to see a larger picture.

If you would like to “adopt” this little fellow FREE to a good home, please send me a message.

Your vet sounds like a good person - will the clinic also keep an ear out for a possible home for this boy?

He is just SO handsome! What a sweetie!

I am nowhere near Alabama...but he must have belonged to someone.

Did you also check lost notices at the shelters, etc? He might have been hurt, and run away frightened - and the owner is frantic!

Can't hurt to place a "found" notice in local shops and maybe in the newspaper.

Good luck! Please let us know where Cinnamon goes!

I did post a FOUND notice on PetFinder, and I could post a notice at the gas station right now the street. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep him much longer. I'm paying for the shots, boarding, and the general care of his eye and paw - and I'm paying to have him nuetered, if I can find a home for him.

If I can't find someone from all the places I've posted, I'll have to take him to the humane society this weekend. :(

POst locally! A lot of people don't KNOW about PEtfinder I didn't until a few months ago, and that was from here!

Have you asked the Humane if anyone has called in to report a missing cat? Phone all the vets and shelters too!

In a pinch call your local radio or TV affiliate...they might be able to put you on air for a second if they have room for a human interest story. Especially if you have a local morning program there!

I know this sounds like a lot...just all I can do, that's all!

The vet just called me and said they nuetered him today (a day early), and he did well. He also informed me that one of the techs there has taken a liking to him! This is excellent! I told him that things didn't look good on my end, and if she was interested in adopting him, I don't want any compensation for what I've done. I just want to find him a good home. :) I'll keep you posted!

I am SOOOOOO happy!!!! I just called and spoke with the vet technician, and she's going to adopt him and keep him! I am so relieved that the little guy is going to have a home! She's going to keep him at the vet over the weekend because she's afraid his eye infection might be contagious (she has 3 other cats and a dog!), and she's brining him home on Monday. :)

She's decided to name him Austin. :) I'm such a softie when it comes to this stuff that my eyes literally watered when she told me she was going to keep him!

I am just so happy he found a home!!! :D

I am going tomorrow to pay the vet bill. While he was at the vet these past 4 days, we had them bring all of his shots brought up-to-date, had him neutered, had them attend to and take care of his eye infection and give him antibiotics to heal the sratch on his front right paw. We will also have to pay boarding fees while he was staying there under their care. I'm pretty sure the vet bill will be more than $175 for everything involved.

Fortunately, this little guy was adopted by one of the vet technicians at the animal hospital/clinic I took him to, so all of the care and attention given to him paid off! *happy dance* I am so happy he has found a home! The vet technician has decided to name him Austin!

For those animal lovers out there, I am asking for extremely small donations to go toward Austin's vet bill. If you can't contribute any, then I fully understand, but it doesn't hurt to ask. ;) I have provided links below for those who would like to contribute $2 or $5. If you would like to donate more, send me a PM. Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

If the vet tech is adopting him, might she cover some of the costs? Find that our for sure - you may not need as much as you think!

HUGS!
