I'm not sure how many people are from Alabama on here, but I wanted to give this a try.
My boyfriend and I were eating last night when a woman knocked on our door to ask if a cat belonged to us. I told her it wasn’t ours, and she went to the next door. The poor think was limping on top of it; it wouldn’t walk on its front right paw. About an hour later, we heard it meowing outside. It was sitting at the top of the stairwell, meowing away. So my boyfriend and I took it in, set up a makeshift kitty litter box for it, and gave it food and water.
This little guy needs a home please! We can’t keep him since we already have 3 cats in a small apartment. I took this cat to the vet this morning and will pay for boarding fees until this Friday, February 2nd. They already did a leukemia test today, and that came back negative. The vet estimates his age to be at least 1 year old, no older than 2 years. It’s hard to tell the exact age.
While he’s at the vet, they will update ALL of his shots (estimated to be roughly $80’s worth, including a rabies vaccination), give him antibiotics for his right eye (a tiny bit of an infection) and for his front right paw. It appears the padding on that paw was scratched/injured, so the antibiotics should clear that up. They will also neuter him on Thursday ($65+) and check for worms (which will be taken care of if he does have them). They will also bathe him, so he will be nice and clean.
All of this is coming out of mine and my boyfriend’s pocket, and we don’t expect to be compensated for anything. We just want to find this cat a good home so he’ll be taken care of. I hope SOMEONE out there will take him in, especially since we are doing so much for him in hopes of finding him a good home. He is a VERY friendly cat! He loves to show affection by rubbing his head on your legs and hands! He’s so sweet, and I know he would make a wonderful pet for someone!
Here are a few pictures I took at the vet’s office. You can click an image to see a larger picture.
