Well, she took a bad turn today. She seemed fine this morning but then, whilst out on a stroll, she suddenly went wobbley and weak looking and had to lay down for a few minutes. We carried on again and she was ok again but then as we walked back to our house, she did it again and, in the end, I had to just carry her the last few yards back to ours.

She gobbled her food down as usual when we got back and I put her in her mound of blankets in the shed. I phoned the vets and they were able to see her straight away so I took her. Her heart is fine and her temperature is fine. she is still the same weight as she was the last time she went, September last year. She was able to walk into the vets and seemed ok. She got some painkillers for the arthritis because the metacam doesn't seem to do much good, although I didn't think it was the arthritis causing the bad turn today but then, when we got her home, my suspicions were confirmed when we were just walking her through the house and she collapsed on the floor and had a mild seizure. No violent movement but her legs were just sticking straight out rigid and she lost control of her bladder and her eyes darted around for a few seconds but then stopped. As I was working this evening, I didn't have time to go back to the vets today. I'll go tomorrow.

Anyway, she's spent all of her time in the shed since then. She still gets up to use the newspaper but hasn't wanted to go for a stroll and she gobbled her supper again this evening and left the dish sparkling so her appetite hasn't been affected. She seems ok at the moment apart from not wanting to go for a walk.

Still, if it's something bad, I don't think I want to drag her through anything else at her age. She may have to be put to sleep tomorrow depending on what the vets thinks. :(

If the weather is cold, and that makes oxygen less, it could be heart- solved by medications.
Keep us posted about the visit to the vet tomorrow...

That's so sad to hear. It's good that she is eating so well. She'll need
that to stay as comfortable as she can outdoors. Sounds like she had a mild
seizure or something. I do hope the Vet has something to help Mist.

Oooo.....I am so sorry that Mist is going through this. I am sending my prayers that this can be fixed, and she will be alright.

Is there any way that she could be brought in, so you could monitor her overnight??? till you get her to the vets???

Thanks all.

Mist is still eating fine but her balance is still a bit off and, even though she can walk, she doesn't really want to. She was ok when I first took her out of the shed but when she came out of her kennel a bit after, I had to go get a bowl of cereal first, she was off balance for a few minutes and didn't really want to walk anywhere. She had a pee and I put her in the shed and left the door open in case she does want to come out for a poo. She's not really had chance to have one since yesterday dinnertime but being as she's eating normally, no doubt she'll be needing one.

We have a vets appointment at 1:50pm and it's 12:37pm right now. Maybe it will come to the worst, I don't know yet but, at this age, you have to be prepared for it to happen although I doubt it will make it any easier. :(

Just to let you all know that we decided to have Mist put to sleep.

I stayed with her the whole time and we've brought her home to bury her in the garden. No doubt Jess will go next to her when her time comes.

The vet said her heart was a little slow and her temperature slightly low and he thinks that her heart was unable to speed up causing the seizures and we also reckon she had neurological problems...was showing signs of cognitive dysfunction etc...so there wsn't really anything that was likely to make life better for her even though she still enjoyed her food to the last.

Thanks everyone for your good vibes. :(

I am so sorry she had to be put down, but it was for the best. She is much happier now, running the fields at the rainbow bridge! RIP Mist.

Thanks guys.

She's just been buried, well my stepdad is just covering the hole back in with her in it. I had to throw the first bit of soil back on. She's in a large cardboard box that was just the right size to place her in.

I let our other dog Jess see her too before we buried her. She had a sniff and, hopefully, she'll understand why she won't be seeing Mist anymore. :(

Tears shed for you and Mist. You can take comfort that she didn't suffer long. I'm sure she knows how much you all loved her.

Thanks everyone. Still feeling crap. I had to phone in sick because I was supposed to be working this evening and tomorrow morning but I couldn't do it with the state I'm in.

Our Jess seems a bit depressed too. Maybe partly because she knows Mists gone but also because of how depressed I look. She kept looking up at me in this funny way when I took her out. She didn't even mither me to throw her ball...just plodded along.

I nipped her out again last thing around the block like I did with her and Mist before and I looked behind me...usually Mist would be plodding along behind because I'd let her follow us off the lead but there was nothing there. I made too much gravy as well when I made her supper. I'm used to making enough for two mouths.

I'm so very sorry :( You have my deepest sympathies during this heartbreaking time. I will say a little prayer for Mist's spirit, that she may be running joyfully and full of energy again at the Rainbow Bridge.

:( i've been out of town but just caught up on PT. I'm so sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful girl. She's up there by the Rainbow Bridge now, running around whole & healthy again. (((hugs))) to you & Jess. I saw how depressed my Star was when our Rosie died. I'm praying you both feel a little better soon.
