Manatees gather in the warm waters of rivers and estuaries that are away from the cold waters of the Gulf of Mexico. They stay in the warmer waters most of the time during the winter months and only venture out into the Gulf to feed.

They are large creatures measuring up to 10 feet long and weighing close to a ton each. But they're gentle and shy with a casual community cohabitating with all sexes and ages comfortably.
