i'm not sure if this has been posted here before or how many people realize how many breeds there really are. i just wanted to share this.

yes there are many dog breeds (I didn't know there were THAT many) but there are only 156 breeds recognized by AKC. Just thought I would say that...

yeah, i only learned there were so many breeds in the past year. i figured though the akc didn't list all breed, they had most. and i found sites and clubs that listed 300 some. i thought that was alot. but they said that there were others too. plus i kept hearing of one breed or another that none of the sites listed. so my quest never ended until i found this. now i'm alot happier. i love sharing this info with people. we are so limited w/ so few breeds. some people will only buy a breed if they can register it. well, now they have no excuse. "oh, that's a rat terrier i can't register that thing!!!" i'm amazed how many people don't even know about the ukc.

oh, i should add this one. though they don't always have info on the dogs they are pretty through w/ any names that a breed may have. www.dogomania.com/ (http://www.dogomania.com/) over 1000 listed.
