My small cat, Sheba, has just started a painful behavior. See, she sleeps with me at night. Cat being a cat, she likes to explore. Her favorite exploration is to jump up on the aquarium next to the bed, wander over to the hamster cage, and return to the aquarium. She doesn't bother the fish or the hamster; she just likes to watch and sniff. The problem occurs when she decides to jump back down on the bed. She waits until I turn over and lands, front feet first, smack on the base of my sternum. It hurts! I can't block her, because she does it when I'm asleep. I'm not asleep after that! I don't mind her exploring, I just don't like her landing on my chest. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Padded pajamas? Sleep with a pillow over your chest? Sleep with a spray bottle handy? (Less likely to work, and you'll end up with damp bedclothes ...)

Maybe you should lock your cat out of the room. After awhile you could let her back in. If she keeps doing this after that, well, I have two suggestions for you:
1.) keep your cat out of your room while your sleeping
or
2.) keep a spary your cat when she jumps on you.

Good luck!!! :)

Well, actually, she only does it in the morning. I guess it might be her way of waking me up, but it still hurts.
