Good thoughts for Sammy-Good Update

[Ginger's Mom]

Hi Pet Talkers. If you get a chance we would like to ask for prayers for Ginger's best friend, Sammy. Some of you may remember this handsome guy (pictures attached below). Well, Sammy started acting funny Thursday so his Mom took him to the vet's on Friday. They gave him some medicine for some swelling and bruising (or what looked like blood under his skin). He was no better this morning, so his Mom took him to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. After some tests it has been discovered that Sammy has ingested rat poison. He is spending the night at the hospital, and is getting a blood transfusion. They will call in the morning with more information. I know that there have been some dogs on this site that have recovered from an accidental ingestion of rat poison, I hope that with some good thoughts from my fellow PTers, he will do well also.:(

Thank you so very much for all of your thoughts and prayers. I always knew Pet Talk prayers were special. :D I just got a call from Sammy's Mom, she spoke with the hospital last night and this morning, and they said everything went well. I cannot tell you how relieved I am (LES). She can pick him up at around noon today. We will probably go check on him tonight. Thank you again. :)

We checked on Sammy several times earlier in the week and he seemed to be doing a little better. But I didn't want to post anything until we knew more. Well, he came over for a playdate with Ginger and several other pups last night, and he seemed to be doing great! He is almost back to being our old Sammy. His mom is going to have more of a problem keeping him somewhat quiet for the next two weeks, but that is the kind of problem we like to have. :)
