Reggie is gone :(

Reggie is now at the Rainbow Bridge with Smokey. :( He's been going downhill for quite some time but the past couple of months he was even worse. My mom made the decision to send him to the RB tonight. I made the mistake of going with her, I didn't want her to have to go alone. That was the hardest thing I have ever witnessed. I have been crying all night, I just cannot stop. :( :( I miss him so much. He would have been 14 in March.

Reggie please know that we all love and miss you. I hope you are happier and pain free up there with Smokey. I love you old boy, please forgive us for having to let you go, we didn't want you to be in pain, you are free now. You were such a good dog, I'm glad I was able to grow up with you as my friend. :(

I read this last night but couldn't find the words to reply. I feel as if I've lost one of my own since I've spent so much time with him. The most prominent memory that I can think of is how he loved to rub against your leg like a cat.

Such a little dog full of so much personaility. He lived a long, long, happy life and now he is reuinited with his friend Smokey. I am sure they are sharing many stories.

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. I had to make the same decision this year. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I keep reliving it in my mind. It's terrible. My baby will be gone a year in March. She was 14 1/2. I know it had to be done, but it was a hard act of love. Maybe your baby met with my baby at RB. I miss her terribly and I know you do too. Try and hold on to the memories. I still cry every day. I know I'll see them all again, but I miss them so much now. :(

Thank you for the sweet comments everyone, I really appreciate them. I couldn't look at this thread without crying otherwise I would have replied earlier. My mom and I are still having a hard time, but we're trying to just think of him as he was before, when he was younger. I know he's happier now and running free, he could hardly stand some days...he couldn't go up/down stairs, often he would just fall over and could not get back up. :( We will always love and miss you Reggie.
