I know we had threads on greenies, but now they say they have a new one " easier to digest"... I know my opinion- what do you think? Here is the link.. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=15354 ( sorry to use fosters and smith- I like their products but this is the only place I could find the new ones listed..)

It's wierd you post this, I got a sample one in the mail today.

In my opinion, they feel exactly like the old ones. I haven't given it to one of the dogs yet.

I really never had a problem with the old Greenies other than the price and the ingredients aren't so natural. I think they are okay to give once in a while. They are about the only chew Simba won't lift his nose to.

Those were my thoughts exactly- and its funny something "new" would be on sale at all the catalogs... My vet pulled the greenies from his office.. hmm

I dont feed them to my dog. My main reason is their "tiny size" starts at dogs that weigh 5 pounds. Well my dog is 3 and I am scarred that they arent good for him. Not only that but my friend does give thme to her dog ( she has a balck lab something mix) but I noticed they are hard as rocks. How can that be good fro them? So I agree I dont think they are good. :p

Mr. Chiwawa, you can soften them up to a certain degree by placing a wet paper towel over the treat and placing it in the microwave for a couple seconds. That should soften it up to a pliable texture.

I never had a problem with Greenies. Honestly, if you know your dog gulps down treats, use a different product. Of course, we all make mistakes of not supervising our dogs, but I guess the company really took a hit when those stories started popping out =/ If the new Greenies is still as hard as the old ones were, I'd definitely use them (if other people bought them for me :D). They're just too expensive!

Same here, I got my free sample today, and havn't gave it to my dog yet.

I know I will watch one of the dogs like a hawk when I give it to them, but I am still a little nervous. But the size I ordered is not the right size, both of my dogs gained weight. So will see...

I don't think that will matter because the size of their mouths stayed the same! ;)

I got my free sample the other day. It didn't seem any softer to me (just a different shape), Nebo still was able to bite off chunks like he did with the old ones. So I don't think I will be buying any. I'm not against greenies, I think they are fine, just not for dogs who like to bite of chunks and don't chew them properly (like mine!).

I guess I never really thought about that *hits self on head* or maybe it was just a excuse to tell myself to not give it to Zoey. ;)

Thank you for the tip. I hadn't heard about them yet. My dogs go totally nuts over greenies. I have often said that Ripley would sell his soul for a greenie. He is a dog that is not food/treat motivated at all but goes ballistic when he even hears the word greenie. :) I have stopped giving them quite so often, but maybe now I won't have to be so concerned.

Well my dogs liked them. I use to get them at the vet. One day I took the pups in for a weigh in, and noticed they were gone off the counter. When the vet told me there was suspecion of blockage, that was enough for me. Never looked back.
I thought the same thing- except for a different shape- they felt just as stiff, and not worth the risk to me for my dogs when there are other treats I can give.

I got the free sample too. Hadn't opened it to compare it to the old style. Kia's never had a problem with greenies, so I'll likely give it to her. I'm not sure if Chipper should have any with that sensitive tummy of his.

I prefer the Smart Bicuits of theirs. Both Kia and Chipper handle them okay.

If anyone wants Greenies, let me know...we have them at the store, but, are desperately trying to get rid of them. We will no longer carry them for exactly the vet's reasons. I won't give them to our dogs. I think that maybe we might just ditch them...
