I'm supposed to wear glasses but... I usually only wear them when I absoulutely need them. I can't see very far away and I can't stand to put anything close to my eyes so I won't wear contacts.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 3. My left eye was lazy and turned in. Adorable, right? I had to wear patches over it and switch it between eyes to make my left one stronger.

I can't see far away - I still wear glasses today - I hate contacts. Because I'm very good about wearing my glasses and only have them off when I sleep or when I'm swimming, my eyes have improved dramatically and I really don't understand why I still need them - but I'll wear them until the day the optometrist says I don't need them anymore!

I have glasses, but don't wear them all the time. They are needed for distance, but not for reading or looking at the computer screen.

Yes - and in my case "far away" means anything further than about an inch from my nose. I have worn glasses since the summer I turned 9 years old, not only am I extremely near-sighted, but I have an astigmatism in each eye. So without my glasses, not only are you blurry, but there's maybe four of you overlapping each other!

Yes, and I wear them very proudly. I love my glasses and couldn't imagine my face without them. I despise contacts!

Yeh, I can't see far away clearly at all. =] Though this only became a problem 2-3 years ago.
I wear contacts, as I can't stand glasses. I tried to wear glasses, but I hate it when you look out of the corner of your eye and everything is suddenly blurry again.
Soooo.. Contacts for me!

I wear glasses all the time (can't see well far away). I've never tried contacts, and probably never will because I don't think I'd be able to put them in or take them out easily.

I voted no because none of the options apply to me. I wear glasses but they dont have a perscription to them, they are juat clear polycarbonate lenses with the transitions lenses. I have to wear them, because i am 90% blind in my right eye, so they are purely for protection. I forget to wear them sometimes, but try very hard not to. If i got something in my good eye I would be in horrid shape. One time while driving i got something in my good eye, and had to pull over and try to get it out! I was frantic, thsnkfully it was just a speck of dirt! but boy was i panicking!! It sucks but i have learned to adjust!!:)

Glad I could vote twice as my left eye sees up close and my right eye sees at a distance so I wear them for near and far. I can actually see pretty well without them since I have one eye doing each job but if I read too long without them on I get headaches.

Where's both??? I have needed corrective lenses since I was a child -- for seeing in the distance. As with most people, I now need magnification to read comfortably (and if it is dark...to read at all!)

I wear contacts. I have never worn glasses. On the rare occasion I wear glasses, I feel vulnerable and I don't see near as well as with contacts. I put my contacts in when I get up in the morning and take them out when I get ready to sleep.

First I couldn't see close up, once I hit 40 ;) . Now I can't see far away either. I asked the eye doctor if I was going blind, he assured me it wasn't that bad. I wear bifocals.

I love wearing my glasses, I think they add to my style/personality. I also have contacts but I don't like the way I look without my glasses on so I usually only wear them for sports.

Sounds just like me! My glasses come off to shower and sleep, and that's it. I couldn't see my own hands without my glasses.

I used to wear contacts, in junior high, high school and college. When I got pregnant, I couldn't wear them anymore. My doctor said my eyes were just drier than normal due to the hormonal changes of pregnancy, and I would be able to go back to them after I had the baby. Guess what ... "the baby" is almost sixteen years old and I've never been able to wear contacts again.

Yes, Karen sounds like ME as well! Glad I could vote on both YES items.

I had contacts for 21 years and LOVED them. Just used my glasses early morning and late at night, before the contacts went in and after they came out. I really enjoyed contacts. It took me 2 WEEKS of going in to the doctor's office every day to learn to put them in and take the contacts out. They won't let you take contacts home until you can get them "on" and "off" easily. During that 21 year, no one but family saw me in my glasses, no one even knew I had contacts.

Then I got older . . . .
Three years ago, one June afternoon, I headed out to the back yard to do one of my favorite things: sit in the sun with a glass of ice tea and read a murder mystery. I had my contacts in. I needed my $1 pair of reading glass to see the book, and my sunglasses on top of all of that. Sigh. Every time Dad asked me something, I'd look up, take off the sun galsses, remove the readers, put the sunglasses back on, and chat with him. Then my eyes started watering so I went in and took out the contacts and put on my regular glasses. And then the readers. And then the sun glasses. MY NOSE WASN'T LONG ENOUGH TO HOLD EVERYTHING IN PLACE !!!!!! :p

Called the eye doc for an appointment that same afternoon. Since then, I have not worn contacts ever again. I got a pair of prescription transitions lens with the built in sun protector. WONDERFUL! And folks who had known me for years asked about my "new" glasses, ha ha ha.

Yep, contacts for me 90% of the time. I wear my glasses around the house and to give my eyes a rest from the contacts.

I wear glasses 90% of the time. Only when I'm sleeping, swimming, etc. I don't wear them. I think I will look prettier without glasses, so I'm going to try contacts, and see if I like them..if not I'll HAVE to keep my glasses.

I wear glasses for reading. I can't see anything up close! Put something in front of me, and I'm blind as can be.

I wear both. I just got a new pair of glasses that I really like so I wear my glasses more now. I don't wear them when I'm working with the dogs. Deuce has already broken the brand new pair once! He has no concept of how big he is or how hard his head is! I wear my contacts whenever I'm outside, especially in the winter. Frosty lenses drive me crazy!

I wear contacts and love them. I never have any problems with them. I pop them in as soon as I get up in the morning and pop them out at night before bed.
I can't stand wearing glasses. I have a pair, but never wear them. I hate the way they feel. Justin likes the way I look in glasses, but I prefer to be comfortable and wear my contacts. I'll probably wear my glasses a bit once the baby is born because I won't want to put my contacts in when I get in the night to tend to the baby.

I wear glasses with progressive bi-focals. I've worn contact lenses in the past but it's too much of a hassle. So, I'm resorted to wearing glasses. :(

I should but....I have been examined twice and given glasses each time, but they do not work for me. They make my vision worse and I am too lazy to keep going back to the doctor. I tried contacts once too...that was a huge failure.

I have both contacts and glasses, but I am so used to working in a chemistry lab, and nervous that i'll get something my eye that I wear my glasses more often. I do wear my contacts for sports, and I am starting to wear them to work more, since I haven't worked in the lab for a year now!!

Interesting poll. It's fascinating how it seems more people have vision deficits than have "normal" vision. It almost seems more "normal" to be nearsighted.

I wear contacts. I wore glasses for awhile when I was younger, but even after a year I could not stand the feeling of them always being on my face. It seems like it should be like wearing a hat or a ring. You get so used to it you aren't even aware of it anymore. But I just never got to that point. I also feel I see better with my contacts, my peripheral vision is better.

Voted yes to both. Can't see past my nose so have a pair for that. Can't see at a distance and have a pair for that. I also have a pair to magnify when on computer, like now...lol.. :)

I wear my glasses to see the board at school but not for much else. They are pretty weak glasses as my eyesight isn't terrible, but just quite odd! My father is short-sighted, and my mother is long-sighted, so guess what...

I am both! One in each eye :p

I am a lot more short-sighted than long, but thankfully I'm not totally dependant on the glasses. :)

I'm supposed to wear glasses but I hate them and always will to the grave :D I sometimes think I look good with them, then I end up hating the way I look. I might get fitted for contacts soon though. The problem is, I am legally blind, and at the age of 15 no less :o   I refuse to wear them unless I need them for school which is stupid but sadly my insecurites take their toll on me.

I have no choice I have to wear, can 't see to watch tv, cross a road, read a book.

I have been wearing glasses for 40 years, the last 6 I have been in tri-focals

I wear contacts. I wear the kind that you leave in for a month and then switch to a new pair when the month is up. I love them! Sleep, shower and swim in them. Of course no serious swimming though. They are the best. I have started having trouble reading and I now use reading glasses also. I tried the new mono vision thing. One eye for distance and one eye for reading and it worked but I could notice a difference with the night time driving so I switched back to my regular contacts and reading glasses. The doc says when the reading part gets worse the mono vision will be the way I want to go. I'll probably give that another try in a year or two. I also have glasses that I will sometimes wear between contact changes. I started wearing glasses when I was in the 7th grade.

I wore glasses / contacts from age 10-27. I had corrective surgery last year and it has been the best decision of my life! Course major side effect is the high probability of needing reading glasses somewhere around the age of 40ish (the average apparently)... course that means I have 10+ years! :D
