My cat Amber hides all the time! We put baby gates up to keep her out of those places, but nothing seems to help!:( She has her own litter box and gets along well with my other cat, hamster, sisters hamster, and my rabbit. Is she hiding from one of my family members? Is she scared of something? Any hints?

Yes, try palying some games with her, maybe with a piece of string or something, that might make her more confident and part of the family.

Is Amber a rescue kitty? Maybe she had something in her past that makes her hide...I would do what Heather suggest, play with her and always make sure your home for her is quiet...she may be hiding from noise. I know that when we turn the stereo or TV too loud, Noel likes to hide too.
Good luck, let us know how everything works out. :)

Amber is a rescued kitty. She was born under a deck and only had 1 sibling. She was eventualy intiesed out with a can of tuna and given to the person who owned the house. This person was moving out of state and couldn't take a cat. So, he gave it to his future wife who was also my music teacher. We were freinds with her and went to go see her. At this point she had three cats in her house. Of course we fell in love with her and came back on Thanksgiving weeked to pick her up.
I don't know if any of this has anything to do with her hiding does it?
