Fish shopping today, yesterday too but today I bought. I got a orange/white lionhead I named Walden, a black/orange comet-Zipper, and an orange comet who remains nameless. The comets are in quarentine because they are feeder fish. The lionhead just came in from Apet so he was healthy enough to go in the main tank.
Yesterday's fish shopping was just depressing. The new stock just came in and was kinda crappy and the people getting fish just drive me nuts. One lady comes to walmart to buy a new goldfish for he son's one gallon spongebob tank, the last fish died in two days. The guy at the local walmart is partially knowledged about fish though and though he can't convince her not to get another goldfish he managed to get her to listen about water quality and care. Then another guy comes to pick up 50 feeder fry. He's got a 55 gallon tank with 30 feeders already. He wants 80 goldfish in a 55 gallon tank! And he doesn't feed them to anything.
Today was slightly better. I went back to walmart because I thought about their new lionheads all night. Some lady and her two kids were there buying 1 gallon corner tanks and planning to put 5 goldfish each. Walmart guy convinces them down to one. Darn kid picked the london shubunkin I wanted. Poor fish. So I got my lionhead and went to petsmart. Here I got two feeders because they wouldn't sell me the nicer commons in by the plants. I'd have paid a few times the feeder price for the ones they have by the plants, but the guy didn't want to fish them out of the plants. Why do they stick them in there then? Another worker there refused to sell a goldfish to a guy with a 2.5 gallon tank. He said the guy could get a guppy or a betta, no goldfish. Made me smile.

I don't know how many times in just the past week I've heard stuff like this (as in people wanting to buy goldfish for insanely small tanks). It gets so tiring.
Even my best friend's mum has decided to get 3 koi.. for a 10g! I talked to my friend and told her how cruel that is, giving her details on the proper care of Koi, but her mum won't listen to me.
*sigh*
I also get to hear alot of these stories from a friend, as he works in the fish section of the local petco. They have GREAT fish, just horrible customers. I've heard coutless stories of people coming in, requesting to buy cichlids, and when he asks if they've gotten a tank set up, alot respond that they haven't even bought the tank yet! Of course, he refuses to sell fish to people who don't have the proper sized tank.
Anyway, congratulations on your new fish! Atleast we know that they'll go to a great home with you. =]

lol yep I know what you mean. I shop at Wal-mart sometimes for my fish stuff and the employees are out wal-mart don't know much about fish. One time I bought a fish and the guy didn't know what it was so he just guessed and gave me a lower price than what it should have been, and what's more annoying is that the fish people never want to listen to me lol. Anyways, it can be frustrating too, specially when customers come back with dead fish, they are usually did because of the customer, not because of Wal-mart. I just got two assorted Lionhead fishies, I named them Jack and Will! I love them so much and they are so cute! I just love lion heads! Here's a pic of them!:D

Congrats on your new fish, can't wait to see pics! :D
I know what you mean about people and goldfish. My own parents :o bought two feeders and they weren't that little and put them in a gallon bowl and no air! When I bet my dad $1,000. they would be dead within 3 months I guess he did some research and put them in a 10 gallon tank they had and I gave them a pump. ;) It's not perfect but at least an improvement.

Will and Jack are adorable. Almost wen-less though. Are they really tiny? Walden has a head full of wen. I wish I had more tank room. All the lionheads they got in this shipment were AAA at least.
