We took Daisy in for a checkup and the Vet decided that she should be operated on today because her shoulder was not getting any better, and he does not know what kind of damage is in there, maybe muscle maybe crushed bone and it would get worse. It was the hardest decision I had to make, but I want her to live the best life she can and if I took her home to think it over I could never bring her back.
He said he would let me know around 4 what happened. I will do the most praying I have ever done in the next few hours. She was so scared. I love her so much.
Jackie

I forgot to tell you that Perry will be home this afternoon, we have to bring him back as his liver is not functioning the way it should in a couple of days.
We will be so happy to have him home.

The TV station KFMB has contacted us in regard to the pitbull attack.

Oh Jackie, I guess it is good that little Daisy has the best chance of having a full recovery as possible. It is simply amazing how much Vets can do now days. You and your husband and pups will be in my thoughts and prayers for such a long time. So far things have worked out ok for Daisy and Perry and hopefully it will continue. Chin up. Keep your spirits high for those puppies of yours. They will need your strength to get through all this. And you need ours.

Prayers are on the way. I will ask God to send some of his special healing angels to be with Daisy and her doctors as they go through the operation and of course you too. Give Perry a kiss for me while you wait.

Oh, Jackie, what a time of mixed emotions for you! It must have been so difficult to leave Miss Daisy again. And Perry is coming home, but has to go back and there are still concerns about him. Definitely, our prayers are redoubled. We are still with you. Take care of those precious babies, Lord!

I don't see how God can not answer the prayers of Cinder and Smokey! They are so innocent and child like. I know they touch my heart!! :D

Jackie, does the vet feel that Perry's liver will start to function again normally? My prayer vigil is continuing. ;)

They said they will keep checking Perrys, I don't understand something about the enzymes. One of you asked, Daisy is 4 and Perry is 3, His birthday is on the 4th of July.
I'm trying to keep busy or I'll go crazy, now our phones are not working good, suppose to fix them this afternoon.
Jackie
Thank you all again

Jackie and Don -- Will keep the prayers going for Daisy and Perry. Hope his liver functions get straight. Also, hope Daisy does well in surgery.

Phred -- those pups of yours are just too sweet!! How could God, who is loving and caring of all His creations, not answer such great prayers? He can't -- they'll get better. It's great to be a part of such a loving and giving community, even though I don't get here very often these days.

Love to all of you, Jackie, Don, Perry and Daisy.

Oh Jackie:( I know how hard it must have been for you to take dear Daisy back. But, as you say, if it gives her the best chance for a full life, I think you made the right decision. I know you will be so glad to have Perry back home. I'll be praying that his liver enzymes will be back to normal soon. Hang in there kids. Lots of prayers are coming your way from all over the world. And Jackie, please give Perry and kiss from me. Try to keep your chin up. Hopefully this is just a little setback.

We'll keep up the prayers from this end, we want Miss Daisy all-the-way better, so the surgery's probably her best shot.

A certain bunny who will go unnamed broke her leg when she was a few months old, then had to have her cast replaced 4 times (I think) as she kept rebreaking the leg standing on it. The docs thought she might "hop with a limp" but she hops just fine, and I'm sure Daisy'll be a much better, more obedient patient!

The image of a room full of angels with just a whisper of wings hovering over Miss Daisy during surgery is very comforting. Oh, Jackie, how we will all continue to pray with you and for you.

Oh Jackie, I know it is hard, but I think that the surgery is for the best. You wouldn't want it to heal all wrong and for her to be in pain. I pray that these doctors will be guided to find exactly what was injured and what is the best method to correct the injury.

As for the liver enzymes, remember when Hannah was so sick. Hers were really off the charts. Even when I had the recheck done two weeks after, they had come down a lot but were still very, very high. This may be from some kind of infection because of the attack and the docs are going to know what to do.

Keep the faith, Jackie. These two are going to pull through. They are young and strong and that is a good thing going for them.

Meant to post it here - don't know how to copy or quote, so will just tell you my last post is in "Please say a prayer" - And I have been ever since I first read the latest on Miss Daisy this morning at work. You can know, Jackie, that a whole lot of Navy employees are pulling for you all. Soooooo glad KFMB contacted you!!!! Yayyy! The rest is on the other page - but here's some more purrrrrrs and headnuzzles from Grasshopper to the kids - We send our love and uplifting thoughts to you and your Don -

Did anyone here in San Diego see the newscast regarding the attack on Jackie and Don's babies? My husband thought I was napping and I didn't have the TV on in this room so missed it. Maybe they'll flash it later - he says the neigbors are building a kennel for the pits and that they said they would pay the vet bills. I know our focus is on healing, and I believe the love being sent their way is truly helping! Now some after-the-trauma healing needs to start, so let's hope and pray these people will do what's right. And that the City will look into the casual attitude of animal control!
Jackie, about the liver thing: we have had 5 major (human) illnesses in our family the past year and a half, one of which involved liver. If all beings are fundamentally the same, as I believe they are, I think that Perry's situation is probably one of watching, as liver damage is monitored by the measurement of certain enzymes. I also believe the little King will pull thru, and as was said earlier by Karen, that Miss Daisy will dance again, too.
So, honey, draw a nice bath, put in some bubbles, soak and talk to God, maybe burn a candle. You and Don give each other hugs and back rubs, like our furry friends do when things go wrong, and care for yourselves, too! God loves you, as He shows His love in the love given by others.
You must be sooooo special!!!

The latest update that I have:

Hi everyone. I am sorry for the delay. Chris (my son) finally graduated from high school yesterday. What a rough road that was. hahaha

Anyway, Daisy had surgery this afternoon. The doctor said their was muscle and nerve damage. Also a chipped bone. They were able to sew all back together and she is sleeping ok. Her temp was a little low so they were trying to warm her up. The TV station KUSI aired they case live at 6:00 pm. It really was a bad report. They also talked to the neighbor who saw what was going on and he said he was going to cover all the vet bills and repair the fence. Made them look bad since that wasn't the case all weekend long. We will see.

Perry looks great. I went by after work and he got up from his bed and came to see me. He is healing really well from the outside. Just need to get his luver working. Now if we can only get Daisy home. The family will be whole again.

Thanks for all your wishes and prayers. They really help them all pull through such a tragic time.

Thanks,

Colleen and Family

Glad Daisy's surgery went well. I know Jackie and DOn are relieved. When does she come home?

As for the TV report, even if it was bad, it may have gotten the neighbor to pay for the damage his dog caused. He may be sincere in his offer, but it could also have been a "show" for the camera. We'll see. For The Wellers sake, I hope he keeps his word.

Dear Jackie - So sorry I haven't posted in regard to this awful thing that happened to your babies. I just now became aware of the whole story on your beautiful babies and I can't tell you how awful I feel that something like this had to happen to your beautiful dogs. My prayers go out to you and your sweet Daisy. This is just unthinkable that this thing is allowed to happen to innocent people and their beloved pets. Again, sorry for not responding sooner, I'll keep up with the progress and keep you all in my prayers. God Bless!!!!!

Believe it or not, we are all home and together.
Talked to the Vet this morning and he released Daisy, said she would feel better at home. Am I happy, you betcha. We didn't try to rush anything, it was their decision. She is pretty much under right now, all bandaged up, Perry is doing well, he jumped up on Don's rocking chair is eating and drinking well, now if I can only get Daisy to do it.
I'd appreciate anyone putting this on PetTalk as I'm pretty busy nursing right now and I don't mind a bit.
Here are a few pictures. Thank you everyone!
Can't put the pictures in right now so will try later.
Love

Happy Dance! Happy Dance!

I'm so glad that Miss Daisy's surgery went well! There might still be ups and downs ahead, but we'll keep praying for healing from this terrible incident - healing for all of you!

I wanted to comment on your vet's good tactics when deciding about Daisy's surgery. How fortunate that he gave her time enough to heal a bit - then decided (was inspired by divine intervention?:D ) to go ahead with the operation. The damage he found definitely needed immediate attention to insure Daisy's best recovery!

Both waiting and surgery are helpful at the right time. I'm so glad that Daisy got the right combination from her doctor!

Best wishes again to Perry, our hero, and to all the human family that has been affected by this.
