I would like to tell everyone how much their prayers, good wishes and positive thoughts meant to us.

First of all the first day I just cried all day, then to be busy I would come in and read all of your posts and I would feel the strength of your prayers and the love flowing to Daisy and Perry and Don and I and it gave me strength. I have never seen Don so devistated in my life, he couldn't stop crying either.

I know in my heart that all the prayers and good wishes and positive thoughts are what got Daisy and Perry through this horrible time and us too. I know it.

We received e.mails from so many people we didn't even know, we received love and strength from the Golden Retriever Board, our group, For the Love of Dogs and so many many from PetTalk.
I would like to thank Cinder and Smokey and their Dad for the special prayer the pups gave to us, the wonderful tribute from Karen, all the phone calls of concern from my friends, and the wonderful prayers and wishes from everyone on here and of course our very good friend Carl and his Schnauzer World community.

Thank you all so very much, in my heart I feel that you helped save our beloved Daisy and Perry along with our wonderful Vet.
He was so caring and let us visit anytime we wanted to and as long as we wanted.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
Love and Peace to all, hold those babies tight to you.

Jackie and Don, the way I reacted to this horrible news - you would have thought Daisy and Perry were my dogs. I felt as though my gut had been turned inside out.

Why this strong reaction? It is because all of us here love you so much for sharing everything about yourselves and Daisy and Perry.

Yesterday, I just couldn't stay off this board - trying to keep up with the latest news on the pups.

But this doesn't mean we can "lighten up" on our prayers. We want to see Perry completely healed and home again as well, and we pray Daisy will not need surgery.

So, we will continue to pray for all four of you and your extended family.

Love, Gini and Rascal

Jackie, that is what family does! They stick with you when you are down and love you in ways you never knew were possible. I believe that God has taken this terrible incident and is using it for his Glory! He is showing how when we unite in prayer, he is faithful to hear our prayers. Especially the prayers of two dear pups named Cinder and Smoke! He is showing us just how great his Love for us is.

Some people think "It is just a dog". I can't tell you how many times in my life I have heard that. :( IT IS NOT JUST A DOG! It is a best friend, loyal companion, and a glimpse of what unconditional love is all about! Anyone who has the kind of relationship with their dog that those of us on Pet Talk have, know that it is not JUST a dog! :D :D

It was our priviledge to rally behind you and Don on behalf of Perry and Daisy! :D :D :D

Jackie and Don,

You two are the definition of great pet parents. Your dedication and love for Daisy and Perry along with all the prayers and your wonderful vet are what got them through. You have wonderful skinkids who were there for you in your time of need also. Being 3000 miles away, prayers were all I could offer, but then, prayers are mighty strong things to offer. I am so pleased that the two of them are doing sooooo much better. I was glued to the computer for 2 days constantly checking for updates. Your positive attitude through all of this is to be commended.

Oh, Jackie, I'm so sorry about what happened to Daisy and Perry!
I have been absent for a while, but Logan just sent me an e-mail and she told me what happened. How awful!

I'm glad to hear that your beautiful babies are recovering well.
Please give them tons of kisses from us and know that I am praying for their speedy recovery.

I confessed to Thelma that I am a worrywart Mama and when she hadn't posted in a while, I emailed her to find out where she was, and to make sure everyone was ok.

Thelma, I know Jackie will be thrilled that you have posted too. It is good to see you back.

Jackie and Don, I have been away all weekend without access to a computer so this morning is the first I have heard the news about Perry and Miss Daisy. I'm thrilled that they are doing better. The strangest thing....this weekend, especially Friday while I was home, I had this overwhelming urge to get on the computer and check Pet Talk...Honestly I did! Normally, when I'm away from the computer I think about Pet Talk and over the weekend I think about the people and pets and wonder and hope for everyone's well-being. But I've never felt an urge like that before....Unfortunately, my home computer is not working and there was a state of emergency in the city because of the rain and the floods so I couldn't go anywhere...
I think it was a definite sign.

I felt the same way. Like my heart had been ripped out. I acctually thought about them in my sleep cause I had a dream about them. I can 't wait till they are 100% better and you can watch them playing in the backyard again! Chewy and Teddy send lots of kisses and doggy hugs.

Jackie and Don,
I read the message that posted by Logan at Golden Retreiver website, I was so saddened by what happened to Daisy and Perry. Just let you know you and your little ones will be in my thoughts and prayers, how horrible to have pit bulls live to the next door..
But I am grateful that Miss Daisy and Perry are going to be OK. Get well soon, and we will think of you everyday, until all the pains are gone. I feel so hurt to just hear the story.

Dear Jackie, as I mentioned on the phone, having a tragedy like this happen to any Pet Talker is like having it happen to one of our one. My knees buckled when I read the news. Our hearts broke for you, knowing the up hill battle that lay ahead, thinking of our beloved, darling Schnauzer pups so terribly injured, in pain and fighting for life, not to mention yours' and Don 's fears and devestation. We all did our best to send to all of you in San Diego our love, strength and support. We sent God our prayers. But most of all I think it was YOUR incredible devotion and love for Daisy and Perry that pulled them through. They are real fighters, just like their Mom and Dad; I think they fought so hard for you and Don and for each other. I am just jumping with joy and so incredibly happy to learn how well the kids are doing: Daisy home, Perry on the mend. My heart is about 100 lbs. lighter! You are such a dear, wonderful friend and, well, I don't think I have felt such relief in many a year! Bless you, Don, your wonderful, devoted children who helped you so through all of this and to Daisy, Perry, you are our heroes!! Get well soon and come home Perry! I know Daisy misses her brother! Love, Sandra

Jackie and Don, I think we are all very slowly starting to exhale. What a trying time for you two! I really do believe that God gave us animals in the first place for our pleasure and enjoyment and saw the sorrow of so many people here at PT and all over that He has answered our prayers out of His love for all of us. I know you must feel that a dark cloud is slowly moving away from overhead. It was wonderful to get to talk with you on the phone yesterday, although I would have liked for the circumstances to be different. We all rejoice with you at this wonderful news!

Jackie and Don,

I am just so incredibly happy for Daisy & Perry. I've been
looking at the pictures of them that Logan posted. I know
they're not "out of the woods" yet, but (Praise God), they look
to be feeling stronger. Jackie, I swear I couldn't have been
more upset about this whole terrible mess, than if it were one
of my own blood family member's pets. What Candy says is
true, Pet Talkers ARE like family . So glad to know that Daisy
is home & big brother Perry hopefully to follow soon.
Prayers & positive thoughts continue for a full recovery.

As I read all the posts, I can't get over how many of you were affected in the exact same way I was by this event. There isn't a deeper, truer love for ones dogs than that of Jackie and Don and I think that each of us has recognized our own devotion and relationship in the one that Jackie and Don have for Daisy and Perry. It is a bond that can not be explained and only understood and felt by those of us who know it personally.

Our hearts are a little less heavy tonight and so very grateful for the progress made. Our prayers will continue.

God bless Jackie and Don and Daisy and our brave boy Perry.

I think I have some very good news. Don saw Perry today and talked to Dr. Valentine (our other Vet) he explained a little more what happened, he said the Pitbull must have had him by the throat and chest and shook him and clamped on and it caused his heart to float because his lungs were deflated.

NOW THE GOOD NEWS
Dr. Valentine ( he is so kind, he has a perfect name) told Don Perry was doing well and just maybe he could come home tomorrow. He told Don you really love that dog don't you? Don said of course I do. He said well I was watching you through the one way window combing him and talking and loving him.
Then they put Perry on the table and Don said he took about a 5 minute pee and ate like a horse.

Daisy is doing well at home, she wouldn't eat for a while, but tonight she ate really good. She don't like taking her medicine and not good at drinking water so I dip my finger in the water a million times and she licks it. What we won't do for our pups. lol
It makes me sad to see her limp so bad, but the alternative is worse. Dr. Valentine said not to put her in the big bed, in case she fell, but this afternoon she and I spent a few hours on the big bed since I could watch her and she loved it. She def don't like the megaphone she has to wear. She is back to her independent self, no kisses for me, but plenty for our Grandson, Chris. lol

We know we love our pets, but we really don't know it until something threatens their life. I have to say I felt guilty for what happened to them, I was always telling Daisy don't worry, I will never let anything happen to you when we were in bed. We never even took them for walks in the Neighborhood for fear of them being attacked, let alone attacked in their own yard.
Please, please never take anything for granted, be aware, make sure your pet is safe and show them all the love you can give.
Again thank you all so much for your love and devotion.
Jackie

Thank you jackie, for reminding us all how preciuos our pets are. It is sometimes easy to let the girls out into our fenced backyard and think they will be fine. Truth is a fence doesn't keep all the bad stuff out and the good stuff in.

So glad to hear things continue to go well. I hope perry does make it home soon!

This is great news, Jackie! Just Great! I am so happy to hear that Perry may be coming home today.

Do not feel guilty about what happened. It was not in any way yours or Don's fault. Your yard was secure and safe for the schnauzers and accidents happen. Perry and Daisy are very fortunate that you came home when you did and that you were able to get them the care they needed.

Sorry Daisy is limping, but hopefully, it will get better soon.

We love you all and are so excited about the good news!

I was away this weekend and when I read what had happened, I was in shock. I didn't know what to say. I literally stopped breathing as I read the posts. I am so sorry that you guys had to go through this. It must be awful to have one of your worse fears come to life. I am so glad that your kids were not killed in this vicious attack. I know they have a long road ahead of them and I know that you will be with them every step of the way. God bless the little babies. I am so glad they are going to make it.
I saw pictures of the fence. I can't believe how bad those dogs wanted through there. And I read somewhere that you guys have to repair the fence yourselves. Unbelievable. How much room do you have on the outside of the fence? Maybe you can put electric barbwire on the outside of the fence. If the pit bulls are still there, if they try to come through again, maybe a nice shock will make them think twice. God, I hope the pit bulls are not still there. How awful for you guys. My heart aches for you all. I'll keep praying for you guys.
Beth
P.S. Once your kids are well on their way to recovery, have you guys thought about seeking the advice of a lawyer?

P.S. Once your kids are well on their way to recovery, have you guys thought about seeking the advice of a lawyer? I was thinking the same thing about the electric fence, Beth. Either that or a brick wall seems to be the only thing that will stop those dogs. What were the owners of those dogs doing, I wonder. They had to have worked at that fence for quite a while to get through it like that. I've got prayers on the way and fingers crossed that Perry gets to come home today.

Jackie & Don, I just saw the posts this morning and was in total shock!

I read each line with tears in my eyes. At first they were with pain & fear, and then with gladness that Perry & Miss Daisy would be OK.

What wonderful children you have! But then , look who brought them up.
