Of course they do- they are no dummies.. lol.. Our food doesn't have the chemicals in it that dog food does. However- processed food- like cooked meats ( which has reduce blood enzymes for digestablity for dogs), veggies cooked ( alot of b vitamins have evaporated etc), and also the process of cooking like added butter, salt etc is not good for them. If you want to feed a more natural diet, alias raw, there are things you can give them that would be good for them- without the people cooking process that makes the food harder to digest for them.
What dog food are you feeding? That will give me some idea where to start..

If you feed them one time from the table while you are eating you will forever have a dog that begs while you eat...just a word of caution.

I have a chihuahua and I would NEVER feed him table food or scraps.Only because they arent supposed to weigh more then 6 pounds and I think people food at least cooked people food is bad for them. Quickest way to get a fat chubby chihuahua if you ask me.

Outside of over doing it with ham, grapes, raw onions, and assuming the dog's weight is under control there is nothing wrong with giving them left over table scraps with the dog food you are feeding them. Mine get (and expect) the last bite of whatever I'm eating. They patiently wait away from the table, and do not bother me while I'm eating, knowing they will get something. The amount does not matter. They just want to be included. :)

If your dogs have a good energy level, enjoy their dog food (mine have their dinner consumed in under 2 mins), free of food allergies, metabolic problems, then keep feeding them the same. As the other poster indicates weight control is always important.

im a firm believer ,if its good for a human its good for yur dog,im not talking about chips and chocolate im talking meats vegies fruits inwich my dogs love all of,carrots and watermelon are 2 of my dogs favorates but if yur having a chip and dip for a snack of course your dog can have a chip and dip, everyone know chocolate isnt good for yur animals that is true very true, but otherwise table food is great and contains more fat for a more active pet and also makes them feel more part of the family.

NO Chocolate, NO grapes or raisins.

And always feed them in their bowl. Or at least not from your plate. If they know the plate is for YOU, they won't beg or steal from a plate left where they can reach it. If you're at the table and want to give them a treat, put the food on a napkin or saucer on the floor. But I've always taken the treats to the kitchen.

I was about the say almost the same thing...weird...my little dogs don't get as much scraps but nobody ever has any problems with it. The inside dogs always get the last bites from moms plate (and sometimes mine, rarely dads) The only thing I DON'T feed my dogs is chocolate and grapes.

You might want to try carrots for your dogs (but not all dogs like them)

My oldest pom Missy (13 years) has a heart condition and has to avoid salt. She hated the no added salt expensive dog food so we cook her people food instead. I usually cook ground turkey with a liberal amount of frozen veggies that have no salt added. She's a bit heavy so I avoid adding rice (I would normally add this if she didn't have those extra few pounds). We steam the turkey and add the cooked veggies and mix. She takes a supplement for the vitamins and minerals she might be missing This diet is with our vets blessing. Of course the other two can't resist Missy's food so they always get some of hers mixed into their kibble.
