I know I don't post here much anymore, but I am hoping most of you remember Tigger, my big orange freckled-nose boy. He really needs your prayers. :(

I'm crying as I post this, so I am hoping it makes sense.
Tigger cannot use/feel his back legs. I don't know why, or what happened. He was fine yesterday. Then today he was dragging his back legs as he tried to get to his favorite sleeping spot :( I've felt his legs, back, etc. but didn't get a response. I called our vet, and they told me they were all booked up. They said if he isn't in pain, I could wait until the evening and bring him in as an emergancy, where he will be seen right away. So he will be going in a couple of hours, unless he shows signs of pain-then he will be going immediately. At the moment he is sleeping.

Has anyone delt with this? I'm really trying to be prepared for what they are going to tell me :(

Any prayers/thoughts/advice/comfort is all very appreciated.

EDIT from page 2:

My boy is gone:( The tears will not stop coming...I'll give a brief explanation and will try to come back later...

He had a heart condition/murmer? that did not come up during any of his check-ups. It threw a blood clot, and that's what happened to his legs. We had some different options, but his breathing kept sounding worse, and getting heavier. The vet was also not hopeful. I wanted him to be happy/pain free...so I had to say goodbye :(

I want to thank you all for thinking of him. This was so sudden..and too soon :( :(

This sounds like an emergencey to me! The vet should let you in!!!

Is there an emergency care clinic near you? I'd take Tigger there if your vet can't fit you in.

I don't have any personal experience with it, but it could be a stroke or a slipped disc or some sort of blockage on the spinal cord. I would think the faster it was discovered, the more likely that permanent damage could be avoided.

I agree! I fit people in all the time, even when they're less serious sounding than this, so I'm surprised they didn't tell you to bring him in right away, even if it means there will be a bit of a wait. :confused:

I would just take him in as a walk-in. Poor Tigger. :( Please let us know what they find.

Thank you guys.

She told me I could bring him on in, but it would be a long wait. I'm not understanding that either, as they're usually very understanding. I called Jasper's vet as well, but they are never understanding and told me I need an appointment :rolleyes:.

I find this vet to be very good, that's the only reason I didn't call others right away. I may have to though, the waiting is killing me.

Just wanted to post that we are leaving right now. It should be 4PM or after when we get there, and that's as long as I am waiting.

Please keep my big guy in your prayers :( I will be sure to update when I can.

Thank you

OMG! Not Tigger! My only experience with this is on my Goldie's last day with me. Her tumor had grown so large I guess it was impinging on nerves and she lost the ability to use her back legs. It was so sad! I hope Tigger's diagnosis is something simple.

Prayers for Tigger. The only thing I can think of is a fractured spine. This happened suddenly to my poodle (AnnaBelle). She is now paralyzed from the waist down ... for 4 months now. We keep her in baby diapers, since she is incontinent.

I hope that it is something easily "fixed" for your Tigger!

Poor Tigger -- my RB Tiny was like this and the vet told us it was a result of a stroke. Lets pray thats not the case for Tigger. Please know I am praying for you and your freckled nose boy.

Oh my... NO....I am so sorry to hear this news! I am crying as I type this. RIP little Tigger, RIP.

Know that you made the right decision. You were right when you said that you didn't want to see him in pain. He is now painfree, and playing at the RB with our other PT RB kitties. I am so sorry for your loss.

I still remeber with sadness when BJ the Siamese started to stagger.I went to call the Emergency Vet , and a friend to drive us there.
This took about 10 minutes, and when I came back BJ had passed on.
I felt so bad, that he can gone so fast.
Tigger was such a Great Big Orange Cat, Micheal and Miquelito are especially sad.He will be with us when we go to Nugget Angels Mandarin, where Tigger will get the honor of the first plate at the serving tables.
And he will still be with you, the way BJ is with us all.
And you will be reunited at the Rainbow Bridge.
One Fine Day.

When a loved one goes suddenly, be it pet or human, it is extremely difficult for those left behind. But this is SO good for Tigger - he went quickly, didn't suffer, didn't have to adapt to a handicap (which is possibly harder than having one from birth) and didn't have to deal with a slow down hill progression. You made the right decision; no one ever said the right thig was always going to be easy.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dear Tigger was well loved and cared for, and that counts for a LOT. My thoughts are with you this evening. And for Tigger, have a great time at RB!!

I know he'll find my Divot at the Rainbow Bridge and that they are romping free of pain and healthy. I can't tell you how bad I feel for you, Here is something I wrote when Divot left for the Bridge. Maybe it can ease your poor heart a bit.

When sorrow stretches out extended arms,
she grabs up everyone of us she sees,
seduces us with false and fleeting charms
that bring us way down to our trembling knees.

She crushes us and scarcely lets us breathe;
her taloned fingers rake our bodies raw;
she pushes us down under seas that seethe;
we feebly try to slip her grasp and law.

One day so wearied by struggles long,
we see a tiny glimpse of sun above;
we hear the sweet strains of a simple song,
and we remember what there was of love.

And slowly slowly new dawn does arrise,
and we at long last can wipe our eyes.

I don't post here often but I had to say how terribly sorry I am for your loss. Tigger was such a handsome boy; you must be completely devestated. It hurts so much; I am getting LES just thinking about what you are going through.

I am so, so sorry you are having to go through this. Peace to you and headbutts in sympathy from Abby and Suki.

I've been thinking of Tigger and Emma the past few days and how I haven't heard much from them in a while. So I'm deeply saddened to hear that Tigger has passed on. Tigger was one of my favourites on Pet Talk and I always enjoyed seeing pictures of the handsome orangie fella. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry about your boy Tigger!! When I ready your initial post, the VERY first thought was that he threw a clot and it was blocking the artery that goes to the legs. I am so sorry. Sleep softly, dear Tigger...

I am so very sorry. I just now saw this. I know nothing will get rid of the pain. When it's unexpected like that, it's harder to accept. Just know that we are here for you. I know too well the pain of having to make that choice. Rest peacefully, Tigger. You were well loved.

I really want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. I am so glad that I decided to post here, as all of your kind words and support has helped more than you will ever know. I almost forgot how loved Tigger was here. Thank you all for caring so much, you are amazing people. I have missed you all.

Emma has been amazing. She's barely left my side since I got home last night. The dogs have been extra loving, and extra goofy. Can't help but smile around them...

I managed to get a little sleep. "What if.." questions won't stop running through my mind. Once they do, this might begin to get a little easier without the guilt side of it. My sweater is filled with orange hairs, that I can't wash yet.

This morning when I took Tigger's blanket out of the carrier, I noticed quite a bit of blood on it. I'm not sure why. I'm guessing he had used. I didn't notice any on him, or on me so it was unexpected. But it also made me think that this was serious, and that I did the right thing.

Catty1- Thank you so much for making that post. It's a nice way to remember my boy.

I wanted to share a couple recent pictures here. I never got around to sharing them before, but I hope you will enjoy them anyway...

My boy could never fit on one chair..

((((((((((ROBYN)))))))))) I am soooo sorry to hear about Tigger. He was such a beautiful and sweet boy. Such a big beautiful cuddly hunk of orangie. Rest assured that he is watcihing over you smiling knowing you loved him so much and knowing you did him the greatest act of love you could by letting him go. He is now happy, healthy and painfree. Lilith was waiting for Tigger to show him around and they are bestest buddies. And they had a huge PT pet meeting to talk about how special and affectionate their hoomans were and how they will wait for them to cuddle them again. They will keep each other company and have lots of fun in the meantime and of course be there for us hoomans when we need them. You will hold him again when the time is right.
For now hold his memories dear and think fondly of him. The guilt will pass when you realize you did what was best for him. I promise. I went through the same thing when we lost Lilith so suddenly. ((((((HUGS)))))

We are here for you whenever you need us.

R.I.P. Terrific Tigger. Be free and happy at RB until you and Robyn are reunited once more.
