I was looking at petfinder.org.... and woah! A LOT of Siberian Huskies or Siberian Husky mixes are up for adoption.. oh how I wish I could adopt one! It breaks my heart to see so many of them homeless.. most of them were given up because of their high energy and their ability to run away, etc. I've decided that I will adopt my dogs only from shelters or rescues, not from breeders. It seems like the right thing to do.. :) - Rachel

I've come to the same conclusion.
I got Smokey because his mom and dad lived together (with me and my 2 roommates - their dogs) and they were not fixed. She got pregnant when he was only 9 months old! Trust me, if they were my dogs that wouldn't have happened.
Anyway, I kept Smokey from the litter but my next dog will definitely be a rescue. I have little pangs of guilt sometimes but at least I gave this unplanned puppy a good home.
