When I got home from work today, kitty wasn't looking too well, so I called around all the vets in my area and luckily was able to find one that gave me an appointment for 5:10.
It was confirmed kitty was a boy and one very sick kitten. His rectum was very sore and swollen and he was incontinent. He opening was quite large. That's why I kept finding little poopies on the floor. I brought stool samples from late last night, this morning and this afternoon. None showed any worms. Then came the bad news. :( The vet suspected FIP because his belly was so round and felt like it was full of fluid. I'm sorry people, but as soon as he said that, that did it for me. He said he could do all the tests that were necessary and that I would have to keep him quarantined until the results. He said if it were him, he would have him PTS. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't take that risk on keeping him with my boys, Sweetpea and PeaPod. I pray that you all understand this. I stayed with him til the end all the while telling him how sorry I was, that I did love him and that he will be going to a better place now.
Even though I just had him since yesterday, it broke my heart to have to do this. But I am trying to console myself by telling myself that at least he didn't die cold and all alone on the street.
R.I.P little one.

You did the right thing, and you are right - he at least got to know love, and care, and a comfortable place to stay in his last day on earth, and will surely be amongst the crowd to greeet you some day, at the Rainbow Bridge.

{{{{HUGS}}}} to you. A loving goodbye, far better than he would have had on the street - or with that idiot with the plastic bag.
Beautiful little boy, RIP.
HUGS again. I hope your little Pea Pod gives you some giggles to cheer you up.

Thats so sad that that Poor Cat was so ill.
But before he went to the Rainbow Bridge, he was lucky enough to find a Meowmie of his very own.His Spirit will visit and feel welcome in his Furr Ever Home.
Now he has someone who loved him, and he will have someone to wait for at the Rainbow Bridge.
One Fine Day.

Thank GOD for you Lorraine for saving him from longer (much longer)days of unreal pain in the streets.
Be happy you saved him from THAT.I'm so happy to hear this story because you saved him from a HORRIFIC long lonely painful death. And putting him down humanely was what he needed to rest without any more pain.I'm sure he's one of your angels now looking over you.
I hope his siblings on the streets aren't in pain too :(
Thanks Again Lorraine for helping him end peacefully.

I'm so sorry, Lorraine. What a sad thing to happen. Sometimes the only thing you can do for them is let them go. :( It was better for him this way than alone on the streets.
Rest in peace little baby.

Thank you Lorraine for being you, and being concerned enough to pull the kitten off the streets in the first place. Chances are he wouldn't have even survived until the scheduled vet appointment. FIP takes them down so incredibly fast when symptoms start to show up like that. My sweet Whoopsie Daisy went from wet form FIP, and she was gone within 48 hours. Your little rescued boy went to the Bridge knowing someone cared about him, and with a full tummy, unlike so many others that never get that chance. ;) ((HUGS)) and don't beat yourself up over this...you DID do the right thing!

Oh poor beautiful boy :( It is sad and you took a very hard decision, but I am sure it was the best. Who knows in what conditions he would have survived (or died) if you did not rescue him! I am happy he found you! RIP little boy. Your next life will be better ;)

I agree that you did the only thing you could. We found a kitten many many years ago on the way home from work. Picked her up literally from the middle of the road, got her home, made an appt for the next morning. She had a heck of a cold going. From her size we thought she had been separated from mom way too early. Took her in to the vet. They told me she was actually about 5 months old, and the cold/infection was just massive. I made that horrible decision...as I was at the counter paying for the visit, they came out to tell me that she passed away on the way to the back area of the office. But I have always been comfoted by the fact that we kept her warm and as comfortable as possible that last 24 hours so she knew that someone loved her in the end...

Oh my, I am so sorry to hear this news. Everyone here knows how you must feel, having taken him in for such a short time. But rest assured that he knew he was loved and he went on to the RB knowing love, warmth, and comfort. He is well again, and playing hard! RIP little one, RIP. And bless you Lorraine for all that you did for him.

rg_girlca,
I'm so sorry to hear about the kitten. Things like that do happen when a cat/kitten is found with no known history.
RIP little one. Play hard at the RB.
HUGS to you Lorraine. You did the best you could. At least the kitty knew he was loved.

I totally understand. I had to make that choice for one of the strays I was feeding when I moved. He drooled all the time and when he ate it hurt him. When the vet saw him she said his mouth was filled with sores and she was sure he was in advanced stages of the cat lukemia. I couldn't risk him being around my 4 or infecting other cats in the neighborhood. He was such a sweetheart all he ever wanted was someone to pet him and rub his tummy. Even at the vet's he rolled over for a tummy rub. So we all gave him lots of tummy rubs before sending him to the bridge. Rest in peace, Drooly my friend. I promise if I ever find your original owners, I will give them a swift kick for you!!!

It was definitely the right thing to do. Now he can play at the Bridge and be free of pain.

Considering the state he was in - and your other kitties, you did what was right. I'm glad this little boy didn't have to stay in the streets and suffer. He got to know love before he went, and he is free of pain.
Sorry you had to go through this.
Rest in peace, little boy!
