Ashen is a 1 year old white, blue eyed Australian Shepherd that was adopted from us back in June. His adoptive family was visiting in Bastrop, LA for the holiday and had let him outside for a bathroom break. When he didn't come scratch at the door to be let in as he usually did, they went out to get him only to find him gone. He has never been a fence climber or jumper, and he is generally shy around strangers, especially men. He is suspected to have been stolen.

Ash has a few grayish-black patches of hair including one on the left side of his face & ear. He also has a black smudge on the left side of his nose. He is a lethal white Aussie and has some minor vision problems. He is also micro-chipped. Pictures are linked below.

If you have any information on Ashen or think you might have seen him loose or in a shelter, etc, please contact me immediately at [email protected] or 225-615-4125! Ash was the constant companion of his owner's elderly father, and the man is thought to have suffered another small stroke due to Ash's disappearance. Flyers have been put up, shelters and vets have been contacted, but no one has seen Ashen!

I really hope he is just lost and they find him soon. If stolen, he will most likely be kept under lock and key to keep him from escaping and attempting to return home.

Also too bad that he is not "truly" home in an environment/locale that he maybe knows a little. It would be so much more helpful. Dogs in a strange environment will wander far and long looking for something familiar.

Make sure that they post flyers and ads far from the actual immediate area as he can wander quite far away. Good luck... he sure is a beauty.

Thanks you two. My friend rescued and fostered this boy. She runs a BC rescue. I really hope he's home soon. :(

It's sounding more likely that he was stolen. He has never been a fence jumper, or tried to escape. He is very clingy and attached to his new family. There is a couple from Arkansas who have been stealing dogs in their area. Bastrop is not far from where they are supposedly located. :(

Poor boy! :(

I have emailed and am forwarding this to all the rescue folks I know here in the ark-la-tex. :(

Hopefully someone will find him. But yes, there used to be a large dog fighting ring just into Arkansas from this area of Louisiana. I was told that one was busted last year. But there is still an underground thing in this area, because the parishes' police juries give very little funding to animal welfare. Thus there is no law enforcement into animal cruelty unless it is tied to other criminal activity.

Hopefully, this gorgeous creature will turn up in a shelter. I will keep my fingers crossed for him.
