I want one so bad. My neighbor has one and she is sooo cute. Sooo fluffy like a cloud. I have one cat already. She's just a plain short hair. I've had her for 8 yrs.

Here's a compromise...a lot of purebreds wind up at shelters. So maybe you could save a shelter baby and get one of these kitties you want at the same time! :)

I've looked on pet finder. There is a small selection. Some aren't kid friendly. Some have special needs, some aren't that pretty :( But here are some that are ! If I do get one, I WILL get from shelter. They seem to have the best prices. I save a life too. My doggie is from the shelter. I love her!!

I love to see Beautiful Cats at the Cat Shows and see how marvellous they look.
I am lucky to have John, Rocca, Miquelito and Pouncierge as they are all Pure Bed and not only fun, but great to see as well.
And of course Sonya as soon as shes needled and spayed.

There is a nice site that you may want to check out: www.purebredcatrescue.org. We rescued a Persian six years ago, Raven, and she is such a wonderful cat. If we did not rescue her, I probably would never have owned one!!
I've been frosted!!!

I agree completely. Depending on where you are located the Purebredcatrescue.org site has several of these cats. Kristen is an awesome person. She will help you find the perfect cat. Also remember these cats have a ton of maintenace. That is the reason that many breeders lose these cats. They are unmaintained and it gets to be to much and then they get seized. But a positive with this breed is they are amazingly sweet cats. I loved my himalayan she was my best friend. I think of her daily I have 2 siamese and neither of them have the same personality as Pricilla. They are well worth the work in personality alone. I have worked with Kristen and she is a wonderful person to work with. www.purebredcatrescue.org. Good Luck. Let me know if you check the cats out. I would love to see you adopt one of these they are soooooooo sweet. I am not sure but depending on your location I don't think they ship??????? Check it out though its worth it.

what are some tips for a possibly new persian owner? I just read this
http://www.purebredcatrescue.org/purebredcat/why+some+people+should+not+have+persians/default.asp
Do you keep their butt shaved? I know to brush every day. I shave my doggies but so it's not as messy when she poos. She has long fur too. But persians are even longer.

My cat Tibby isn't a persian, but she does have long hair. I normally just trim the hair around her bum, if I don't she sometimes will get klingons!

I don't have to have persian. But I do want big ol fluff ball. I know that ragdolls and maincoons are long haired. Is there any others? FLUFFY like a persian.

There are Birmans and Norwegian Forest Cats. My Sky is a Norwegian Forest Cat/Siamese Mix and he acts more like a dog than a cat because he's so social.:)
I was at an International Cat Show last weekend and I talked to a lady about her Turkish Angora. They're very beautiful cats and she said that they're very social and love helping people with their daily activities. They have medium long hair with bushy tails. Here's a link about them: Turkish Angora (http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/turkish-angora.html). There are so many wonderful cats out there but some do require a lot of maintenance. Good luck.:)
