As most know, Kiara has had an immense fascination with our lemon tree in the backyard. She loves to pick them. She love to pick them and EAT them. Completely eat them, every last bit. She bites into it after she picks them and then chews them up and swallows.

Now, she's NEVER gotten sick from them, that I know of and doesn't seem to have any blockages from the skins.

I'm just curious as to WHY??, other than the fact that she's CRAZY and loves everything relating to tennis balls. Wouldn't she think they are absolutely bitter and disgusting? They aren't even ripe yet, they are still rather green.

Anyone else have a dog addicted to citrus fruits?

Crazy, crazy dog. I stop her as soon as I realize she's picked another and take it away, but I don't always catch her and I'm not always here to catch her.

Chester loves oranges, lemons, and limes. He has never eaten the peel, but if I left in on, I'm sure he would. :D

Zoie used to pluck the tangerines and eat the peel and all. :) We got rid of the tangerine tree, though. But I can't see lemons?

Tango loves limes as much as Kiki loves lemons. I don't know why...I can't even stand to eat one by itself! Luckily unlike you, I don't have a lime or lemon tree growing in my yard so she's only eaten them a couple times by accident. However, she never got sick from it and it didn't seem to harm her in any way. I've never heard of any of the citrus fruits as being dangerous/bad for dogs though.

To my vet's surprise, RB Cody was a "citrus dog". I guess everyone's tastebuds are different. Good vitamins, though

You know, I've never let Nebo try a lemon...because we never have lemons. I don't like the taste of lemons, but, oddly enough, I enjoy collecting fake lemons. I just had to post in this thread because I laugh every time I look at it. Just the word lemon...lemons are almost as great as traffic cones you know...ok I will shut up now...;)

Lacey stole a few oranges off the counter before, I'm sure thinking it was a ball. I let her eat them. No problems, I guess fruit is good. :D

The only thing I can find is that dogs can be attracted to the white of skin of the lemon. Its also the same reason they use the this in oranges and lemon as the smell base for natural flea remedies. However- I have no idea why your dog would want so much of it, as it doesnt contain a mineral your dog would feel they need.
I think its just a very smart, self invented game. We have black walnut trees, and Femka likes to gather them. I dont obviously let her eat them though. She also like acorns. ..

Kay, I have never seen a dog eat lemons before! I bet you sit and watch her with your eyes all slitted together though! ;) It has to be a funny sight. That Kiara, she is an amazing girl, isn't she? Thats why we all love her so much!
