they'll get used to each other. :) I am just curious but where did you get your puppy from? 6 weeks is a little too young to be seperated from the mom..:( they should be with their mom atleast 8-12 weeks at the most.

Maybe it's because she is new. Give them time and see how things go, and just keep an eye on them to make sure he doesn't hurt her ;)

Has your 6 yr dog been around other types of dogs before, and how well does he get along with them. If he play well with all types of other dogs - then it should be fine, he's setting limits and boundries on pup. If he does not play well with other dogs and growls also at them, then you have a problem and need to work on it right away. Do NOT leave them alone together till the situation is fixed.

As long as there is no blood, let him show his emotion. He is 6 years old - she is 6 weeks. He will for sure be jealous for a little while.

well usually they are supposed to be seperated from their mom at 8-12 weeks. but I am glad your puppy is fine. :)

I, too, got my puppy at 5 weeks. She was young to go at that age, but she was very healthy and I've had her a year now.
I think different people just sell them at different ages. If I was getting a pup I'd rather get a very young one, but if I was selling them then I'd probably want to wait as long as I could :)
wildann, how is your dog doing now???

well, reptuable breeders would not sell their dogs so young. plus, I wouldn't ever buy a dog. I will always adopt. :) most shelters and rescues don't adopt them out that young, either. I didn't mean to change the subject or wasn't trying to start an argument, I was just curious, that is all. :)
to the original poster,
they'll get used to each other, it just takes time. :)

Hey, I wasn't trying to argue either. Me, too, like wildann thought 6 wks. was normal.
Your right though, it is better to not let them go at a young age (5 wks. 6 wks.) because they could get sick or something.
I haven't ever got a rescue dog. I've always bought mine :( But, I hope to get my next dog from a shelter. I've always wanted to save one. Just all the shelters around here have pups that are so sick. It's sad. We did get one pup from our shelter a few years back and it had parvo and died. We didn't really know much about the parvo virus at the time and couldn't keep the little pup alive :( but since then we've had 2 dogs get parvo and we've been fortunate enough to help them thru it!
I wasn't trying to change the subject either, but sometimes when you get to talking about something you get carried away! LOL......
Talk to you later....
and hows your dog now, wildann???
