This morning, Mark had a haircut appointment at 8:30, and when we got there, Karen was on the phone and not quite"herself". She was leaving a message for another customer and basically said something to the effect that, could they please come in a half hour earlier because she was having a crisis with her dog. I asked her what was wrong, and she looked really upset, and told me that Thursday night, she let Wrigglee out and she (Wrigglee) jumped on the door to be let back in, so Karen did. She seemed OK, but I guess after jumping up on a bed later on, they noticed that her hindlegs were dragging. They rushed her to the Emergency Vet, and they told her that she had broken a pelvic bone (I think) and that she would need an operation that could not be done in the immediate area -- there was a choice of 2 places, a couple hours away, and they couldn't do it until next Monday.

I gave her my email address, and asked her to keep me updated. I am heartbroken to just have received this email from her:

Dear Anna, Unfortunately right after you and Mark left I got bad news, Wrigglee was paralyzed from the middle of her back and would never walk again and she has lost control of her bowels and bladder, There was no amount of money we wouldn't have spent on her, but rather than think of how desperately we wanted to keep her I had to do what was the best for Wrigglee.

I couldn't bare to watch her suffer. We only had her Two years , She brought more joy to me then I could ever tell you. I loved that dog and shall never forget her. It is just crushing my heart. I'm sorry to have this message to tell you!! Thanks for caring!!
Fondly Karen

P.S. thanks for baring with me today

I can't imagine the pain that Karen and her daughter are feeling right now, they are so heartbroken. So please say a prayer for them, and keep them in your thoughts. I want to do something nice for them, and am thinking of taking them some flowers on Monday.

Rest in peace, Wrigglee.

Of course your family will be in our prayers, you send them licks and wiggles from the Rainbow Bridge, okay?

I am so sorry. I hope they'll be able to get through this. It's so very hard. Duke will take care of Wrigglee and show her around the RB. Please let her know that we will be praying for her and feeling her pain.

Anna, flowers would be lovely. When my daughter's dog, Dale, died her neighbors sent her flowers and they were very much appreciated. What a heartbreaking thing to have happen and in the blink of an eye. We never know, do we, when a life will end. :( Our very own Kimlovescats is going through the same heartbreak right now with her AnnaBelle who has suffered the same kind of paralysis from a jump. Sweet AnnaBelle is living, although paralyzed and incontinent. :( Of course it makes us all hug our own dogs just a little tighter now and be happy for their health and wellbeing.
