Tango may have Cancer

I found a lump on my maltese Tango. I took him to the vet yesterday and they were quite concerned with it. They drew samples and sent them to a lab to be analyzed. Would everyone please keep Tango in your thoughts. I find out on Thursday. I will keep everyone posted. I am so scared that I can hardly think.:(

I called this morning and they said that Tango's lab results should be in by five. My stomach drops everytime the phone rings. Thanks so much to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. It makes me feel good to have a cyber support group. :)

Hello everyone. I recieved the news last night. Tango has a cancer. He has what is called a mast cell tumor. He has a surgery scheduled for Monday morning to remove it. The vet feels positive that I caught the tumor very early in it's stages and that the tumor removal should be successful. Down-side is a large percentage of dogs and cats that get mast cell tumors and have them removed, have their tumors come back in the same area. I will be watching tango like a hawk from here on out. Thanks so much for everyones prayers and thoughts. I think that he is going to be okay.

Sorry for taking so long to report, but I have been a busy little nurse/mommy for my sweet Tango. His surgery went well. He has stiches across his side that are 5 inches in length. We find out on Monday what grade of cancer he has. The grades are 1-4, the higher the grade the worse the situation looks. I pray that his is only grade 1. His morphine ran about about 1:00 am and he whined all night, I cried with every whine. Today he has been eating and drinking water. I think that he enjoys the cherry flavored medicine. Ha! He is weak, but he is such a strong little fellow. I will keep everyone posted about the upcoming results. I think that Tango is doing so well thanks to everyones prayers and special thoughts of him. THANKS!!!

The worst part is over Tango. And that place where they shaved you and you got the stitches...that is the kissing spot. Whatever grade that nasty bumpus was, you're going to beat it back like it never had a chance. I took Tango for a bandage change yesterday. The vet surprised me when he said that the results were in already. The results from the pathologist stated that the tumor was completely removed and it looked mild. The grade of the cancer will be revelaed early next week. My vet said that he firmly believes that we are looking at a Grade 1. YES!!!! Tango is doing great. I don't think that he likes the bright yello bandage that he got wrapped around him yesterday, but I know that we won't lose him. Ha! Thanks again for all the prayers and special thoughts for my little angel. Everything seems to be working out just the way I hoped it would. :)

Tango has another check-up tomorrow. He will probably have to wear a bandage for another week or so. His stitches (zipper) is very long, vertical from the top of his back to almost the belly. He is doing great though. Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!

Tango gets his stiches out on Monday. He is healing very well. They put the poor baby in a satellite dish looking collar around his neck. He continues to scratch hair from his face. He looks precious with it on though. It is a cloth one, so he has lots of mobility, he just cant scratch. Results on grade of cancer is taking longer that I had hoped, but I am still praying that we are looking at a grade 1. I will post again on how the stiches removal goes. :)

Awww!! I bet Tango looks cute. You must take his picture with his satellite colar on. I had a dog who wore one once. They look like they are expecting a call from the 'Mother Ship' at anytime. Fingers & paws still crossed for a good 'grade' for Tango.:)

He does look like he is calling the mother ship, especially since they changed his bandage from yellow to barney purple and the satellite collar is smurf blue. I will post a picture as soon as I get one.
