This may be the over reacting mother coming out of me but, I have been noticing that Paris keeps crying everytime is she is near the litter box I cant tell if its just her talking her little siamese talk because she does do that alot she is definately a talker. Or that means that she is in pain in some way? What are some of the signs that she might have a urinary tract infection or maybe a blockage  If she would be going to the bathroom on the floor wouldn't you see a spot or two?? I have white carpets and I have spots on the floor from Tucker overeating and then vomiting on the carpet. So I found a wet spot I went to soak it up and it didn't smell like urine but she is only 5 1/2 monthes old and maybe she doesn't yet have that strong smell that our older cats have?? Any help would be great I may be way off base but I am sort of concerned?? Thanks

My Pearl makes a lot of noise when she's going in the litterbox too and at first I was also concerned because it sounded like she was in pain. Luckily this is not the case and it's just part of her meezer personality. She has to alert everyone that she's using the litterbox.:) This may also be the case with Paris.

Symptoms of UTI/FUS:
A plugged cat will often exhibit these symptoms:

Frequent attempts to urinate; the cat is constantly scratching in and around the litter box
Small amounts of urine (wet spots in the litter box are small)
Straining; the cat spends lots of nonproductive time hunched over in the litter box
Painful urination; the cat may cry whenever he eliminates
Blood in urine; you may sometime see blood in the urine spots, but sometimes the blood can be seen only with a microscope
Inappropriate urination; the cat urinates in unusual places, such as on the floor, the couch, or your pillow

I hope that Paris is just a big talker and isn't in any pain while using the litterbox.:)

Thanks for the advice I have been observing her for most of the day and haven't really noticed any of the things from the list. I will continue for the rest of the weekend. If she is still doing that on Monday and I still haven't noticed her using the litter I will contact the vet. I am extremely amused with the alert I am using the box theory!!! She has to announce everytime she is doing anything!!! Even if she wants to take a nap. Silly meezers!! Thank you both for the knowledge I feel a little bit better that she hasn't shown me that she is in any pain. And she hasn't acted out of the ordinary like sleeping or fever??? I would think her activity levels would slow down?? She and Chloe have been chasing each other all over the house Paris keeps playing you run under the couch and I will play superman and jump on your back game for most of the day!! Chloe falls for that everytime..... it is quite amusing! ;)

I agree that some kitties, especially kittens, tend to start meowing when they need to potty! Just watch for any of the warning signs of an UTI! ;)
You know, pictures of her would really help us figure this out MUCH better! :p ;)
