I cant believe I am doing this- but I hope to have another wonderful pet into my house hold. Its a 7 month old BLUE MERLE COLLIE ( PINCHES SELF!!!) ... Its still in the works but I am soooooooo excited I cant stand it!
I have to have my second surgery thursday, but assured they would hold him for a week afterwards... I am in love already- got a crate ready, bowls ready... I must be crazy! ( cant wait, cant wait.. cant wait... lollllllllll teeeeeheeeeeeeeeeeee..... )

ohhhhhhhhhhhh hope hope hope... I have had 3 collies in my adult life. A tri ( captain) a sable ( sable) and a white with merle head ( chrystalis alias charlie) and alwaysssssssssss wanted a merle..And this dog has common parents with my beloved Captain and Charlie ( Tartanside)...
I even wanted to breed Zubin to this one female borzois that would throw grays because of this....
Look out obedience ring- HERE WE COME!!!!

I have always had at least two dogs, but most of my life, alot more than that at a time. I have found, IMO, that try as you can, you cant play like a dog would play with another dog. I have found two dogs are happier than one. And I dote on my dogs, spoil them rotten, but they still love to play with each other.
We got Galina because she was being dominanted by the other alpha bitches in the pack at her breeders. She came here a wall flower, and just by playing with her brother, she has really turned into quite a silly little character. Even Hottie tries to get into the games once in a while.
The only negative I have found in multiple dogs, is supervision. Two heads are better than one for getting into mischeif. However- that has become second nature to me. I have also found like breeds at least in how they think, get along better than two different breeds that dont think alike at all. Like- most of the herding breeds get along great together.
I am excited about this not only for having a collie again, but the age of the puppy is perfect too. Old enough to know a few things, but young enough to allow the other two males "alpha" in the house. Of zubin has no clue what an alpha is.. lol.. ( knucklehead... lol..)
Alot of the temperment in the Borzoi is alot like a collie. They are couch pototoes, intellegent without always thinking what else is there to do, and lets face it- GLAMOROUS! Some people dont like alot of coat- I do. I brush my guys every day- Hottie twice a day with his mature adult male coat.
I cant wait! I already named him!!! lolllllllllllll... His name is Major.

Haha I remember when we got Princess [a Lab/Golden] my father and sister left to go check out how big she was and stuff like that while my mom and I stayed home. The waiting nearly killed me! My dad called up and said we're taking her home, he also said that she was a small dog, well she wasn't small I'll tell ya that much [my dad just wanted her a lot so he said she was small so that my mom wouldn't say no on the phone if he told her she was a big dog]. Anyway, good luck on your surgery and I hope you can get the Collie!

Okay guys - here he is... He is out of Tims in Majestic collies- and this is Steeles son... The previous owner had no clue to a puppy, but I do.. I will pick him up after my surgery in two weeks.. Here is Majestic Major O'Blue alias Major. I have to drive to Ohio, but I bet I get there in record time. He still has puppy ears ( low) but should or they will not tulip. He is alllllllllllllso all knees...
I have my agility set up in the yard.. He is enrolled in his first class for obedience and I AM BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS!!!
The real joke of this is that my captain and steel are related.. Steel is my captains Nephew. Ch. Tartanside Immagination...

ya sorry it was a quick development when the x owner relinquished him back to me for certain reasons. Basically they said they couldnt give him the time he needed to be a household family pet. So they did the right thing and called me.

I want to do obedience and agility with him. He is 7 months old, so I have lost some time, but hopefully we can over come that one. None of those two events are Borzois known to excell in.. haha.. So hopefully we will be back in obedience, already doing showing and lure coursing, as well as therapy work. I talked to our therapy coordinator and they would love to have a merle collie in our group. I believe you should have a purpose for a dog before you get one- not get one and say " now what do I do with this..". Especially when going from 4 to 5 dogs..

The faster the better. I just hope they get all the pre op stuff done tomorrow so Friday is a go. I would hate to go in monday, and stuck there for 3 days eating jello at Thanksgiving.

This really sounds like fun now! I mean not only will I be picking up Major, but get to meet a pt'rs as well.. I already got the house ready for a new addition as I wont be able to do it after the surgery.
I got his crate set up in the bedroom, bowls and blanket. Zubin keeps thinking that might his " play fort" and keeps trying to get in there ( he doesnt fit...).. I am debating to bring Hottie too. It might be better if Hottie meets major off property, and would get use to him in the ride home. Hmmm.. Maybe I should bring Galina and Hottie??? What do you think Tim?

IT should be fun. My trip is still subject to this test on Monday, but I think it will be fine. I guess with next week being a 4 day holiday affects hospitals. :rolleyes:

There are plenty of breeds I dont like. Thats why there is over 165 of them to choose from. If this is a public forum where you can speak your mind I dont see why anyone cant be against another breed. I saw no ones personal dog fingered out in the posts that you are refering to. Just a breed of dog. Many people dont like collies cause of the hair and they will herd young children so they steer away from them. And if they want to say why they do cause its Public like you say, then let them speak. I'm not offended.Major is going to her cause I know this family. They are huge in the dog world and very very respected for thier efforts with thier dogs. Major will be an obedience Champion in a year and I am excited to have my line be part of this families traditionthat dates back to early 1900's.

Tim it was upsetting when she claimed maximus had the baby in the death stare or however she referred to it...maximus has been a long time loved dog here. She said "GET THAT BABY AWAY FROM THAT DOG" just because he is a pit. That is what alienated me...and just because I have disagreed with her she said I act like I am a kid and I am a stalker.

Thank you! We are getting him early as my surgery was put off. I have to have a ultrasound on my heart and my blood pressure is really high (wonder why...) and it was scheduled for monday.
Our hospitals here do not do other than life threatening surgeries over a holiday... sooooooo my husband and I are looking at the following week=- and quite frankly- I can not wait to get it done. He is taking off to take care of the dogs if I cant cope...
God bless you and thank you... It may take me a bit to get pictures but I will try. Even when they finish this test it wont be the week after I get him. We are hoping with my dog training skills, he will know the house by then. And besides- my husband will be home with him as well...

I thought you were supposed to have surgery today?
How do you manage to average almost 50 posts per day? I'm lucky to get that in a week.
I thought you started a thread about the surgery. I can't find them.
God bless you- we have a A frame type of house- that means the main of the house is the center point of it. like a great room thing- but huge- ...
My whole life has been about dogs from the time I was a child.
The hospital said I have to have ultrasound something on my heart and my blood pressure ... is too high .. buttttttttttt We are picking him up anyway- and my husband has a ton of vacation time to take care of him when the time comes.. I figure when we pick him up a week will pass before I go in. By then sweetheart Major will know the house etc and my husband is EXCELLENT WITH DOGS.. We will manage just fine...
