enlarged nipple

I just noticed one of Sadie's nipples is enlarged and I'm worried. I'm taking her to the vet asap but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what it could be. She's 10 yrs old and was spayed at about 1. I have no idea if she was ever in heat before that since I got her from a pound. I don't feel any other lumps near it. Her nipple is about twice the size it used to be :(.

Could be a mammory tumor, Sabies. I think your best bet is to have your vet check it and perhaps do a biopsy if he thinks it is necessary. Better safe than sorry. I do hope that Sadie is just fine, but I know you'll feel better, knowing for sure. Hugs to Sadie and you. :)

Oh good luck. Unfortunately it could be like Logan said, a mammory tumor. I would deffinantelly take her to the vet and they will probablly want to do the biopsy to rule out cancer. Best of luck. Let us know how the vet appointment went. I think she's fine, but it's good to check early in case it is serious.

Fortunately everything went fine at the vet. She thinks it is probably an infection and does not feel concern about a possible tumor. I have some topical cream to give Sadie and as long as the swelling goes down I won't be worried anymore.
