Help you guys; I'm really worried. My Siamese cat age 11 had corneal sequestrum surgery on July 24th. It's now Halloween, and the sequestrum is still there and trying to heal, but now I am VERY concerned that a film is developing around the edges of the sequestrum, almost looking like a cataract. My surgical vet is not showing much concern, saying that there is nothing more that can/should be done for now. I'm just so concerned that the film will cover his whole eye and blind him! I've been sitting here at work crying all day; my coworkers are probably disgusted with me, but he's my baby, you know? I'm crying again just writing this to you. Has anyone else been in this situation? Does the film go away, or do they become blind? I'm really scared for him.

OK, I just researched it a little. We've had every kind of eye problem here, up to and including a ruptured eye (which actually ruptured twice). As far as I know, we've never had that particular one, although I wouldn't be surprised if Polly has a touch of it. Are you talking about a white scar-like pigmentation, or something else? The fact is, also, that blindness doesn't stop them in the least; Spunk, my blind punk, is a stinker!!!

Even if your baby does become blind, they don't worry about it, nor "woe is me." They simply find a way to do what they gotta do. :)
