How long does it take for dogs hair to grow back?

I shaved sap off jenny's side and it took about 5 days to fully grow back.

It probably varies from breed to breed, litter to litter, dog to dog. Also, that is for a greyhound, a very short coated breed. I assume longer coats would take longer to grow back.

I shaved Morty for the summer and it took about 6-8 weeks to grow back to the point that he looked like he did before we shaved him. I don't know if this makes a difference, but Morty's hair is the type that stops growing. Not like, for example, a Shih Tzu's hair that will grow until it touches the ground. We shaved him because he gets really really hot even in the winter.

Definitely depends on the length and probably individual hair growth rates as well. My dog was shaved for surgery 6 weeks ago and the hair is not even halfway grown in on his back leg. However, where they shaved for the catheter on his front leg was almost all the way grown in after 6 weeks.
