Me personaly,I rather not wear fur but I dont mind seeing native people using it because they usualy use all the animal and actualy use the meat.
My house has a few tails from animals which I realy dont like, I feel so sorry for animals having to be skinned alive in some countires just for money, its very stupid to me and there is no need for this because some person wants to make the latest fur fasion & I have already stoped my mom from buying anything made of fur, if she does I get very mad.
Im very angry at Canada for having seals killed for there skins.
I was watching some videos wear the animals where being skinned alive.. it completly brought me to tears and I was so pissed off by this, I just wanna go in those videos so badly and smack the person in there face soo dam hard that they wont know what hit them.
At Winners the other day I seen purses made of deer skin lots of them, the colour looked rare and the purses where pretty cheap maybe going for $100 I mean here the animal was shot for a purse and they want to sell them cheap probably so they can kill more deer. :(
Fur can be worn in situations that make sence, style is no good reason and does not make any sence to me, how can someone wear an animals fur and not feel bad about it, im glad there making more ''faux?'' furs now and there becomming a bigger fasion than the real thing.

I doubt the deer were killed just to make those purses. We have killed all the white-tailed deer's natural predators, so need hunters so the deer don't destroy the forests (which they are doing in some areas) overpopulate and starve to death.
The only fur I wear personally is what Miss Hoppy has shed that lands on me.

I personally dont havent really thought much about it so i cant really answer your question, but as far as deer i would have to agree with Karen probably not just for the fur. And to be honest I live in Kentucky and I absolutley love deer hunting, although a lot of u may not agree with it where i live its a common thing. And again to be honest there is almost nothing that will get your blood pumping like a buck walking under your tree stand and you with your bow drawed back ready to let it go. I myself have only killed one buck and one doe, and havent hunted in 2 years but im thinking of going rifle hunting this year. And i know a lot of u disagree but i think a lot of it is where u are raised, if u are raised around it and see it every year then its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. And as Karen said if some arent killed they will be over populated. I think this would be another good post so i will put one up to see what everyone thinks.

I agree with Karen ;) ! All the fur I ever wear is a colorful cover of cat-hair, giving my clothing a "special touch" ;) :p

I do. But only from teh animals hubby has hunted. I have an really nice warm pair of mule deer mitts, and slippers. We like to make things out of the skins for ourselves and others. They are very soft and warm. Now would I wear a mink coat or such? NOPE. I only wear what we have hunted ourselves.

But I will never wear animal furs.

The worse thing for making fur is,
Fur Farms!
Those evil places produce animals only to skin them, dogs, cats, ferrets, chinchilas, rabbits, foxes ect... all these animals are being bred for there fur then sometimes skinned alive as I have seen it.
I just want to run to these places and set all the poor animals free its complete madness for all these beautiful animals, those people have no right to do this I dont think humans are doing enough to stop this.
Im sure if a huge group of people came down to these factories and started screaming with signs everyday..maybe just then somthing would be done.

I'll wear leather and skins but fur kind of grosses me out the same way real hair extentions or wigs do.

I don't wear fur. I think the only thing I've worn like that is a little bit of leather on my shoes. It bothered me to wear them, but I don't wear them anymore.

I have a mink coat. It was handed down to me from my grandmother. I've never been able to bring myself to wear it though. I'm actually considering turning it into some cat beds!

My ex-boyfriend gave me a fur coat that had belonged to his mother. It was a sweet gesture. But it grossed me out, and I never wore it. I know it hurt his feelings, but I just couldn't do it.
It would be very different for me if the animals that went into a fur coat were also eaten for food. If it's going to die for food anyway, I think the more parts we use, the better it is. I don't like the fact that a mink or whatever dies JUST for a coat. JMPO.
But, even if that were the case, I woulnd't wear fur. I just have never liked it. Just not my style. Plus, I have enough dog hair that has been shed all over the house, I don't want a coat shedding, too.

Yep not only from my spinning but from a friend who raises foxes , hes saving me a few for a coat. Alsso he raises Bobcat kittens for pets and if they loss any I get the hides for the trim I'm planning for my coat.

I wear leather occasionally, but not fur. And of course I'm always covered in Nebo fur.
If the animal was killed for meat and eaten and the fur or hide (leather) is also used I don't see a problem. But hunting simply for fur or raising animals in captivity to kill them for their fur is very wrong in my opinion. We have the ability to make fake fur I see absolutely no need for this practice to continue just for "fashion."
Has anyone seen the (Dateline, 20/20, one of those shows...) special that was on a few years ago about the trade of dog and cat fur? They found fur from dogs and cats on fur coats in stores in the US. I still have the images in my head from watching that....I won't go into details.

No - DEFINETLY not. Might be feel comfortable but I would never feel comfortable on the inside when I'm in fur... I'd never wear fur... EVER.

Now I think that is cruel... raising foxes and then skinning them for their fur... uck :(

No worse than raising cows for leather or rabbits. When you have a family to raise you do what you can to feed them .

They are both bad... cows for leather, foxes for coats...what's gone on with the world? Its better if they're used for meat... but for their skin and fur that doesnt even feed us and we kill animals anyway. That's wrong... and skinning foxes has nothing to do with feeding your family.

Thanks I did mean he raises them for the $$ to feed his kids. They do also eat the meat so nothing goes to waste. I tried some once he makes a sasuage from it . He's part navaho(sp) native american.
Tim I don't even have to wear a sweat shirt I have spun sweaters from my newfies . I get enough each spring for 2-3 exlarge coat sweaters.

I voted depends..Mostly because I don't have any fur, so obviously I can't wear any. But if I had the chance to wear it, it would depend on what it was. Honestly I find fur to be tacky. But I did have these gloves when I was little, and the inside of each glove was covered in rabbit fur. They were so soft and felt so nice on my hands. It would have to be something inconspicuous.

Ahh.. the joy of PeTA.
I think it's atrocious if the animal is being raised for the sole reason of its fur.
The ONLY valid reason for wearing fur, in my book, is if you use it for its intended purpose. There are plenty of people who live in Russia and the upper northern parts of Canada where synthetic fur can not keep them warm enough. In that case, I think fur is alright and necessary. In virtually every other case, no, I hate fur.

I voted that it depends. Sheep and rabbit fur that are shaved, yeah I wear it. Anything that's killed is a definate no. I'm a native person so to speak and I don't hunt for my food or clothing, unless you count stalking the mall. If you are argueing for food you could argue that cow leather is just a byproduct of food.

Oh yep, this another one of my very strong views (sorry). I've been known to knock all fur items on the floor in shops (and even once when I was feeling VERY annoyed, I nearly spat on them too).
I don't see why people feel the need for real fur now when there is so much 'good quality' faux fur around. I have a couple of coats which have faux fur on the cuffs and hood. The only problem is, in Europe, some things are listed under faux fur when they actually are not. I always check garments very carefully before purchase.
I try to limit my leather-wearing as much as possible. I would wear a leather jacket no more than I would wear hot coffee, but for school shoes and riding equipment I have little choice. Wool is a different matter, as it benefits the sheep to be shorn in summertime, although I currently have no clothes made of wool other than a few scarves and bobble hats at the moment. :)

me?? in the furs? nooo, can't imagine myself dressing up all fluffy...even fake furs bother me. :( once many years ago, I wore a long jacket with fake furr-collar, and feel sick everytime I look at myself (the picture I still have).
only time I'd be drowned in furs are when I hold, hugging a couple of cats at same time or wearing my (corinna's homemade) scarf/hat made out all of my little ark's furs. :D

Never would I wear fur. I wont even touch it...I feel like uking when I do because I get the image of the being killed for their fur.
I dont think you can exactly call yourself a TRUE animal lover and wear them..JMHO
To me thats like calling yourself a dog lover yet support BYB 100%
I get people coming up to me wearing fur asking to pet Tedd, I just say why dont you pet your coat its the same thing it was alive once before too. And walk away.
I have no choice with leather because my ridding equipment and tack.
