I was on another forum but kept having ads show up at my email.
I have Borzois now, and use to raise shepherds for over 20 years for show confirmation, k-9 and customs as well... Hello there.. I hope I learn the ropes here but would love to say hello..

How did you make the leap from the herding group to a sight hound?
Welcome and gorgeous animals in your pictures :)

Well age mostly. I love a good shepherd, but I got tired of barking and wanted a calmer dog, docile and borzois dont wag their tails even and a good walk or run works. I always admired them, as you tell by my website story, and always did serious obedience work etc, but just wanted a docile, quiet, big baby- alias = the Borzoi. I got my first 18 years ago, and never went back. Although they are big, easily 4 foot at the head, they are calm and quiet, and actually rather funny at times. Here is one of my youngest running into a 3 foot snow bank. ( I live in the mountains as you can see by the video- it is a crack up!) He was only 6 months old at the time. http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=4bqvnue

Nice to have another breeder on the board. :) I have a friend with two borzoi, interesting dogs. I also had GSDs growing up, but I made the switch to Belgians.

During the shepherds I had two belgiums. Loved them to pieces. The first I got as from the Morristown seeing eye because she didnt make the grade because she would NOT disobey a command which is required for a seeing eye dog, and the second a wondeful none related belgium named "clipper" alias Eciplse. I also had one Terv as well.. which one do you have? they are sooooooooooo smart and gentle.

I have groenendael, no tervuren as of yet, but maybe one day. :) Would love a grey terv! I'll likely breed to a terv one day. I am searching for a nearby male to breed to next year and there are three times as many tervs as groens lol.

I have borzoi now and showing as well as therapy work with kids with cancer. here is my website. www.beckonridgeborzoi.com

The two that do therapy work with children with cancer also show in the breed ring, and lure coursing. They are brother and sister and we ended up with both picks in the litter by accident. First we got the brother at the typical 16 week old stage, then 6 months later, his sister came here for training. She ended up staying ( I think I was set up ..lol..)
The oldest one use to lure course and was shown as well. However a injury as puppy caught up with him as he aged, and I retired him at 3. He is doing well.. The last one is a rescue we got from Borzoi Rescue foundation, and originally she came from the Netherlands at 2 years old. We got her a year after that. She should be in lure coursing as her nick name is " the black bullet". ;)

Thank you. All 4 of those pics were taken at 10 months old.. ( they uh have grown since then) but as you can at even 10 months old, the brother is at my husbands head in height. They grow until 2 years. Three of the four at 4 foot tall at the head or close to it.. Here is my rescue. She is the smallest at only 32 at the shoulder, and 42 at the head.

Hi. I am new as well. Borzoimom sent me the link for this. We were both on the same forum. It might take me a bit to get used to how all this works. There is a lot more on here than the last one. But for a small intro. I have 2 dogs. A Toy Fox Terrier(Beacan) and a Papillon(Pippyn). I'm also a step mommy to 2 Siamese cats (Melba and Necco). I'm looking forward to being on this forum.

PERFECT! LOL.........
Hey guys, not everyone on the board checks here, so new posters may want to save and post intorductions in the specific section set aside for such in the GENERAL part of the board. People who don't always visit the dog side will also get to know you better that way. This is a section that more discusses breeds of dogs, etc. Just a heads up so you can get to know members from all the sections as well, not just those who visit the dog part.
