My dog Missy will be five years old in April. She was very easy to house train and hasn't had any accidents until recently. I've taken her to the vet and spent a lot of money only to find out that she doesn't have a urinary track infection. The only place she's having random accidents is in our bed
:( . I don't know if she'd doing it in her sleep, but I don't think that it's a habit since it doesn't happen all the time. What do you think? Can anyone help me?

Missy is a female miniature dachshund/rat terrier mix and she weighs about 16 or 17 pounds. She has also been spayed. I'm open to any suggestions that you may have! Thanks!

My seven year old german shepherd started showing signs of urinary incontinence when she was about 5. It can happen to some spayed females, it's like weak bladder muscles. She will not do it on a hard floor, I don't know why, and it's only when she's sleeping. She did get better on a widely used medication called PPA. There is also another drug, I believe a steroid, called DES if the situation is unbearable and PPA dosen't work. However, as like all steroids, it will deteriorate the organs over time. We weighed the options as PPA didn't help completely, but decided her health was more important than a few spots on the rug. We tiled the main part of the house and she has her own rug to sleep on in the bedrooms.

Thanks for your input! I called the vet and asked what my options were since all of the test results have come back negative. They also think that it may be incontinence and decided to start her on PPP. She started yesterday and I'm crossing my fingers that it's going to help solve the problem! :) Thanks again!

I am assuming since the bed is higher than she is, when she jumps up, it puts pressure on the bladder. Then she has to go... Trying this medication will help. the other option is simply just shutting your door when you are gone.
Dashounds are notorious for housebreaking problems including spite. However- you stated she was always housebroken before, so I dont think this is the case..
