Little Miss Penny has already went into heat! She is so young, I was not expecting this!
Dont worry everyone, all of my other cats (except Suzie) are fixed. I always wait until atleast 8 months to get mine altered. All my other girls never have went into heat so young before, even though I know it is common for them to.
My little baby is growing up, and being very unladylike in the process! Guess she will have to be altered earlier than expected. I just hate having to do it.
Anyways, This is how the story goes.....
It all started last night with the howls and chatterings of one tiny little 5 month old kitten...

Then the low walking started...

And the tail gets lower also...

Billy checks her out, and says " I cant help you out Penny, Sorry".

Awww...what a BEAUTIFUL kitty!
When my sis and I were kids, we had a tabby who went into heat at 5 months also! But here at our Humane Society, they seem to fix the kittens quite young before they head out to their homes. Maybe it's laporoscopically?
Have you booked a date for her yet?
Those undies are hilarious...that colour is HER(not!) :D

Thank you for your comments. They are actually *my* undies, cut esp. for her  :p
And I have to wait until she goes out of heat for the spay, I got Hannah and Puff done while in heat, and it seemed to slow the healing down a bit. My vet only spays if they are over 4 pounds or atleast 6 months old. Boys are 3 pounds and 5 months old. So she still has a bit to go.
The animal control here alters at 5 weeks of age. WAY too young if you ask me! I have seen so many healthy cats at the vets I have worked for get really sick from alteration too early. I like to wait until 8 months, but she is only right at 5 months now, and that is a LONG time away. It must be terrible for her to have to go through this, so I will be taking her for her rabies shot in about 2 weeks, at which time I will discuss the alteration. Hopefully he will agree to do it sooner than later. I will keep you all updated. *hugs* Katie and kitties

Raven did that last year; she had been spayed but they missed a spot! Bubba and Pink Nose, although altered, tried to...well...you know! :p ;)

I remember those days. When we rescued Misao from the streets she was unspayed and very ill, so we had to wait until she was healthy before getting her fixed. Well she went into heat about 2 weeks before her spay date and man what an annoyance. She kept doing the "present butt" manuever to poor Terra and Terra had no idea what going on as she had been fixed long before ever going into heat. I think Terra spent the entire 2 weeks on top of the furniture and out of Misao's way.

Some Cats Mature Faster Than Others, Scrappy 2 Was Already Carrying A Kitten At 6 Months.
Those Are Such Funny Photos.
They Remind Me Of The Time Mr Scrappy Was Neutered But Still Frisky.
He Monted Pouncer, And Then Thought."oh That Was Why I Went To The Vet"
Pouncer Hit Him, I Couldnt Tell If She Was Relieved Or Disappointed.

Don Juan still occasionally mounts Zerlina when they wrestle. (Just as a reminder: Don Juan was neutered by the Humane Society when I adopted him.)
Zerlina's response: "YOWWWWWWwwoowwwwwwwWOWWWWW."
[tr.: "How many times do I have to tell you? I've been SPAYED!"]

I am surprised your vet waits that old an age for spaying females. And from working with rescues, I know they often are carrying kits at 6 months.
My females get spayed at 3 to 4 months. Never had a problem. Vita was already in heat, had to wait for her to go in.
Good luck getting through the next few weeks!

That is true, but he feels that the risks outweigh the benefits. I just wish she was older NOW, cause she is driving me and the other 7 kits C-R-A-Z-Y!!!
