Just a THOUGHT but would anyone come to Canada for a PT meeting?
I know there were plans for people to go to England for one ,one time and alot of people were willing to go. So I was wondering if there was a Candian one would many people go?
And bring the pets?

I'm in BC near Vancouver but unfortunately I won't be flying anywhere, anytime soon. I know that there are alot of other PT'ers in Eastern Canada. Hopefully they might want to join in. Good luck. :)

We met a Pet Talker in Toronto one time! We were there for a work-related convention, so made plans to meet up with Lailamara, and BlueKat would have tried, but she had relatives coming that weekend so couldn't be two places at once..

I wish people would meet near here...I gave up on the idea that it will ever happen.

I'd love to, but that just isn't possible at the moment and probably won't be for a long time. I wouldn't want to attend a meeting without a dog, and I'm leary of flying dogs so until I get a license and can drive (and have enough gas money for a long trip) it just won't be possible for me to travel far for a meeting.

I'd be up for it....if it was in Winnipeg. ;) LOL
I can't travel. Sorry!

OK - I know now that we have 3 Pet Talkers in Alberta, including me!
BC Mom - there is always Regina! We can meet halfway. 6 hours for you, 9 for Calgarians.
Or maybe Brandon - they must have some great dog parks!

Well, I used to live in Saskatoon and have an Aunt & Uncle & cousin and grandparents there.. I go there a few times a year.
There's a nice dog park about 10 minutes from my aunt's, it's fenced in and had a mini lake in the center.
I might be going to Saskatoon during my spring break (March 26-April 2, I think?).
I also go down every summer for a month.

About a hour or half a hour from Toronto.
If I were to attend we'd have to be in Ontario :/

Let's all meet in my 2 bedroom condo in Cochrane Alberta! :eek: :eek:
But I was thinking if we had some regional get-togethers, then a person from each of those could coordinate with others and hold a major one. Should be a weekend, long weekend.
Hey, Slick - Next Year is 2 1/2 months away. I would think we'll wait after the winter!
Let's think about HOW we CAN do this....not WHY we CAN'T! :D
Hence the poll...let's find out where everyone is first!

There's a Pet Expo coming up in November ( I believe) in Calgary that I will be attending. Maybe a small group of us could meet there?
regional meeting s would be nice, but it kinda leaves out me and BC_mom, as I am the only one in Sask. and she is like the only one in manatoba. everyone else is in Alberta, BC or Ontario pretty much, meetings in those areas would be easy, but exludes the more remote folks, there is not one person within an 8 hour drive from me for example. however something could be arangable between me, BC_mom and Orangotango as they both come up to Sask in the summers. Saskatoon is only like 3 hours from me and Moosomin is not too far either.

LOL. Jk!

I have thought of PM'ing all the BC, AB and SK people in the poll thread above...just to see if we could meet in Regina - or maybe Brandon MB. Let's try for Spring Break.
Suggestions for a central location?
I have some family in Moose Jaw and Pilot Butte, so could find out about halls. Actually - my cousin and her husband have converted a small old church into an entertainment house on their property - a nice acreage in Pilot Butte!
PB is SE of Regina.
Input? Ideas?
PB and Moosejaw would be easy ones for me, we take our dogs hiking in PB all the time and we go ti Agility stuff in moosejaw, plus my best friend loves to drive up there lol I would not be able to get all the way to brandon though... I dont drive and my mom will not be willing to take the van that far, and my friend is not willing to drive as far as saskatoon much less brandon...

Aw, boohoo, Shayna! :( Unless there is a PT meeting during spring break in Saskatoon or Brandon, I can't make it.

To be honest, I think it would be silly to drive to Regina etc. when very few PT'er live in the area. JMO though.

well, how about AB and SK and MB meet in SK? Then AB and BC meet somewhere central to them.
Why do I feel like yelling "BINGO!"? :D

You know I'm game for a PT meeting! If we have to travel a little bit You can car pool with me, now that I have a car. If your bringing a dog, make sure it has a seat belt for safety :D

Ontario, especially Toronto and area, is extremely far from central Canada. It doesn't seem like it - but it is. 18-21 hours, depending on where we'd go. I would definitely not travel that far. :p
The only meeting I could make in SK would be Saskatoon. :(

Okay - so how about AB and MB and SK meet in Saskatoon during spring break next year? And any BC people that can make it.
I am owned by cats, so have no idea about dog parks and BBQ places. Anyone else here know?

Saskatoon dog parks:
Off-leash recreation areas can be found:

- in Montgomery - 11th Street West from Crerar Drive to Crescent Boulevard;
- near Dundonald & Hampton Village - along Junor Avenue, 2 km north of 37th Street;
- near Silverwood - adjacent to the end of the Silverwood Golf Course, along riverbank north to the city limits;
- near Briarwood - 0.4 km north of 8th Street on the east side of McOrmond Drive (south of Wilson's Greenhouse on grid road);

I'd be interested in a meeting for the S.Ontario / Golden Horseshoe / GTA Crowd - since I live in 'sauga, work in TO, and drive to peterborough to work at the farm most weekends i'm pretty flexible on where/what/etc :)
Theres lots to do around here, but unfortuntaly since the weather is getting crummier, maybe an indoor activity? I'm trying to think of some ideas .. any thoughts?

OMG someone from PT lives in the same city as me?!?! Where abouts in Miss. do you like? I'm about a block away from Meadowvale Town Centre! Have you taken your pup to the dog park near me? Its a nice dog park.. lots of pools, 1 open field, 1 forest, 1 agality (sectioned off) & a section for small or non-dog friendly dogs or dog in training thats sectioned off.

*lol* I spend a lot of time up that way actually, a bunch of my friends live off Glen Erin/Britannia area, so I know Meadowvale mall quite well (especially the drivethrough tim hortons!) I've been to the dog park you're talking about too, just not for a couple months (me and my friend took her dog there a few times). I know theres another one on erin mills too, north of that mall, but its not as interesting. Currently, i'm living down around Dundas/W.Churchill-ish area (which is making working in Markham a really pain in the butt) :)

If you take the 407 to Markham its only a 30 min drive eh :D Less traffic & much nicer then the evil 401! When I use to live near South Common Mall, Tom had to drive to Markham aswell.. He said the 407 made a HUGE difference.. I know W.C. & Dundas isn't far from south common mall, so the time should be about the same. If your going to take the 407 get the transponder, its sooo worth it! The guys I'm living with have 2 & when they get their recked van back, they are putting that transponder in my car, so when we take go to Ottawa we can go down the 407 then onto hwy 7. Its sooooo worth the small fee!

The 407 is great! I usually take it from where it meets up with the 403 on the other side of the petsmart on dundas road (right at the oakville boarder), so it usually only takes me 30-45 mins which is -much- better than the 401 (that highway is just a disaster)! I really lucked out since the company i'm working for pays my toll charges - part of why I took the job up here :D
I generally take the 407 straight across till the end, take the sideroads to the 115 north, then on to the farm on weekends too -- its saves soooo much time in the summer on a friday nite!

My part of canada has very low population, but I could go to ottawa or montreal, as are both 1 hour away. Someone tell me if we ever do plan a southern ontario one. ;)

I'd love to have a PT meeting, but I can't travel which sucks. If I had my own car and a good amount of money I would though.
