Well, at least one new picture!!!

As I'm not feeling very well lately, I didn't take any new photos for a couple of weeks, and also didn't create much. And if I did, I wasn't happy with the results.

Today, I finally took some new photos, and I edited one tonight. I called it "Café Oriental":

What do you think? I wanted it to it to look "colonial stylish" and old.

It is fantastic!! You do such great work - I agree with Gary (and many others here) you should try to market your art - it is so unique and worthy of display. There must be an opportunity here for you - at least worthy of investigation.

Have you thought about selling art cards online? This is something you can do from home. Perhaps there are public markets or kiosks or small shops in your area that would love to carry original works to sell to their clients. Also, there must be interesting sites of interest in your vicinity that attract visitors. Find out if there are gift shops nearby - perhaps even a consignment of sorts with the vendors. Another idea is Bed&Breakfasts (gasthofs) where travellers come for a visit or holidays. Artcards are a wonderful reminder of their stay.

Whenever I travel I always go out of my way to find things of interest that are different and a keepsake of my visit to that place. Your artwork would be just such a purchase - original and a wonderful memory of the place I have been to.

Sorry to babble on .... just a perspective and something to consider.

And thanks for your suggestions, Betty. :) Well, several people suggested such an art card business lately, but the problem is: printing cards costs a lot of money, and I don't have any! Money (or the lack of it) always seems to be the problem! You just cannot start anything new without money, especially in a country with such a high unemployment rate and low economy like Germany in the past years. This is the environment that makes employers taking advantage of you: You work your a** off for nothing; what they pay is hardly enough to make a living of it. :(

I so appreciate the situation you describe and agree it totally sucks :( Another possibility is to copyright your material and contact publishing houses that produce art cards for sale to retailers. Might it be possible to sell your product to them for production at least to give you an opportunity to make some money. I don't know the processes in Europe well enough to give you great suggestions about where/who to contact unfortunately. If your immediate locale doesn't offer this option, there must be publishers in larger areas (Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin) or outside of Germany ... Vienna, Salzburg etc.

You mentioned having to take care of legals ... speak to your solicitor about copyright in your country. Protect your talent first and when you feel up to it, pursue the opportunity it could potentially bring you. You have a gift and it is apparent in your work. You deserve to do something that will bring you some happiness and satisfaction, not to mention - pay the bills.
