Hi. Anyone that loves cat shows must go see this one:International Cat Show (http://www.cfa.org/intl-show/). It's in San Mateo from Nov.17-19th. It's only held once a year and it's usally held in different locations. They also had it here last year and I went and enjoyed it very much. I hope that some of you will be able to attend this year.

Just let me know which day we all agree on. I've been wanting to go to a cat show soon and now we can! YIPPEE!

I have a cat-loving friend who wants to join us, but she's only available to go on Sunday.

I'm available either Sat. or Sun. so either day will work for me. If we go on Sunday then we would be able to see which cat gets "Best In Show" and also which are the best in the other categories if we stay long enough.:) I'm really looking forward to this show.:) I guess I'll have to call AmberLee about it because she's not online very much any more.

I just wanted to bump this thread up and let you know that I talked to AmberLee today and she'll be able to go either on Sat. or Sun.:) She'll either call me or e-mail me to let me know the details. Her computer is still down so she has very limited online time right now.

I think Sunday will work better for me, as I'm working at the vet hospital on the 18th (that Saturday).

Would anyone want to go on Sunday?

I can go either Sat. or Sun. and I think that RedHedd said that her friend could only go on Sunday so that's the day that she'll probably be going. I received an e-mail from AmberLee but she still doesn't know which day she'll be going. If she can only go on Sat. then I may end up going both days.:) Don Juan's Mom is also interested but I haven't heard when she can go yet. It's almost November so we really need to get this mini PT meeting organized.:) I can't wait for the cat show.:D

Yippee skippees. I've been on the phone w/KAK and it's tentatively agreed that she and I and the lady I'll be rooming with that weekend will be going both days.

I was so pleased that they'll be hosting another feline agility exhibit again. I've only seen it once, but it amuses and intrigues me so... I know Livvy and Cassy COULD do it, although I don't think either WOULD do, especially in public. (Nothing like a cat, eh?)

So Sunday will be the primary PT sociallizing day, it sounds like.

Don't forget the online coupon for $1 off entries. I think we all love bargins. And maybe the Metro will have coupons, too?

krazyaboutkatz

I can't wait.:D I had a blast last year and I know I'll have even more fun this year. There's so much to see and breeds of cats that I've never seen at cat shows before.:)

What time will every one be arriving? We should set up a meeting place because it's a very large show.

I'm not sure now. I want to investigate the cost of going to Columbia Falls, MT for Corinna's service. Realistically, it would only be about a 10 hour drive across BC then whip across the border to MT. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. :(

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I've learned how wonderful it is to attend Cat Shows from the very beginning, but I'm dependent on the schedule of the lady I'm rooming with. She's often had assignments for her church on Sunday... I'm guessing she won't be free till 11 so we can't get there until 12:30 or 1 or so... I'll try to get in touch by phone with Carla and KAK tonight.

Cool, I'm glad that Sunday will be the primary meeting day, but that's cool for those of you going both days! :D

I'm thinking 1pm would be a pretty good time to meet up. I may bring a friend who has never been to a cat show before with me if I can convince him to come along.

Is there a website and directions somewhere?

I was working at an event at the Expo Center in San Mateo this weekend, and wanted to let you all know that the parking is $7.00. Alas, there aren't any good nearby spots on the street. Perhaps we could organize a carpool.

I'm going to be house manager at a show in Palo Alto on Sunday, so I would probably want to go Saturday after my audition at noon.

BTW, there is a print ad with a $1 discount on admission in today's San Jose Mercury News.

Welcome to Pet Talk, LaPermCats! :D You will love it here. We will all definitely stop by to see you at the show. I really find it fascinating to talk with breeders of show cats and would love to see Kia Kaha in "purrson" ;)

All, just FYI, I'm supposed to find a lady named Marva in the Orientals isle of the show. She has an available oriental, and several kittens, and this is another breed I have always loved along with the Russian Blue. She said she would be happy to talk to me about the breed and if it would be a good fit for me :D Who wants to come with me? :p

The available kitty is Zephyr, and you can find him on the Kittens page. Click on the Kittens link in the nav bar on the left, and scroll down. He's underneath Midas, who has already found a home.

Wow! So you are serious about possibly adopting another cat.:) I looked at her website and she looks very familiar to me. I think that we've seen her at the Cat Fancy show in San Jose. Zephyr sure has beautiful markings.:) I'd be glad to come with you to talk to her and possibly see Zephyr.:) I thought that you're heart was set on Russina Blue's though.;)

Yes, I've been seriously thinking about adding another cat, especially now if my fur-family is going to be split up. Marius really needs a cuddle-buddy.

I've always loved the Russian Blues and the Orientals. I figured that the right cat will find me when the right time comes. :) I did feel a pull from Zephyr though. :o

We'll certainly be happy to help you add to your fur-family! I'm bringing a friend or two who have never been to a cat show before. This is going to be so much phun! :D

Zephyr has such HUGE ears :) what a cutie! I'm sure he'll grow into them.

Red, sent you a PM.

Zephyr is a cutie, but it might be too soon yet to make a decision. I did feel a "pull" from him, but maybe it's just I feel connected with these types of cats?
I figured it wouldn't hurt to speak with Marva and get more information about the orientals though. ;)
In any case, I'm sure I'll find the right cat when the time is right. :)

Don Juan's Mom will meet us there.:) I'm bringing my camera and will try to take lots of pictures. BCBlondie! I didn't know you were there! I'm so sorry we missed you! Wasn't that Cat-Minster thing cool? We didn't take any pictures, but saw LOTS of kitties and kept running into Pet Talk people. Thanks for posting those pictures, Tracey. Holding that kitty was like holding a warm water bottle. He was so sweet!
All of the cats at the show were beautiful though, and we met some nice folks who were willing to talk to us about their breeds.
I went a little crazy with the shopping and purchased a couple of t-shirts, a mug and a tiny white kitty. :)
It was good to see PTers at the show!

Something about that photo of the Sphinx wrapped in a towel made me think of a prizefighter waiting in his corner. We saw the little nekkid guy with the vest made from an athletic sock  on Saturday.

The copper-eyed white Persian was featured in the Breed Showcase talk on Saturday as a particularly fine example of his breed.

Me, I came away from the show with one toy, one tiny "lucky cat" and LOTS of free samples! ;) :D

Thanks for posting the photos and the links. It brings back such happy memories.

I brought back TONS of samples. On the buying front, :o I got two books, one autographed by the author, a Christmas ornament one can add a small photo to that I plan to convert into a pin for my jacket, and a lightswitch painted with gorgeous cats -- looks like they are cavorting around Stonehenge! I planned on buying an apron with a Maine Coon on it that looked just like Livvy. Oopsie, the vendor left before I got back from Cat-minster!

I loved the show and so did my friend Carla, who put me up for the weekend so that I could attend it...

It was great to see so many familiar faces. Thanks, ladies!
