I have a dog named Sparkle who gets skin allergies on his feet if he is outside in wet weather. He does a lot better if he wears shoes when he is outside, and that also makes me feel better about everyday walks on rough pavement. Right now we're using some of the rubber-dipped Paw-Tectors, but they're getting pretty old and worn and the velcro's beginning to peel off... so I'm looking around for another set for him.

I'd like a shoe that is easy to get on and off, stays on well, provides good wetness protection and will last for a long time. Oh, and it would also be nice if it was machine washable! So if any of you other doggy people out there know of a good brand that would meet the qualifications, could you tell me a little bit about it?

Thanks a bunch!

Wow, those look very nice! Thanks for the link! :) I've also done a little searching and have found these boots (http://www.chimpfeet.com/details.htm?id=2929) for a little cheaper... do you think they look like gimmicks or could they really be a good buy? Of course my most important priority is making sure they are functional and will provide the protection Sparkle needs, but it would be nice to save a few dollars.

There's a bit more about them on this site (http://www.handsnpaws.com/product/GOOAPP03003G2), although they charge a little more...

Thanks again for your post, I'll certainly save that link!

I was talking with a woman at work yesterday who was telling me about using balloons on a dogs feet for boots. Cut the end off and slip the rounded balloon part on the dogs foot. Apparently they stay on very well. Don't provide alot of warmth but will keep the feet dry. I've not tried it so I'm only passing along heresay.
