I was called about a dog the owners could not take care of. When I went to house golden hind foot was tangled VERY TIGHTLY by rope. Brought dog home and the foot is VERY SWOLLEN and weeping plasm. Any ideas on what I should do. I live very far from a town with emergency care.
THANKS for any help!!

Poor dog! Could you at least call an emergency vet? If you can't drive there I would think they would give you some suggestions. Maybe putting some ice on it would help with the swelling? I honestly don't know...I really think you need to find a way to get to the vet ASAP. Good luck!

p.s. You may want to post this in dog health too.

Definitely call an emergency vet. I don't know where you are, but here are two numbers near my area (Boston, MA) - we have used the people in Needham, 9 years ago when Miss Hoppy broke her leg at 11:30 on a Monday night. They might be able to tell you whether to soak the foot or ice it down.

what area are you in ?????????????

sometimes we have to travel distances and come up with funds...
when furbabies are in need.....
just the way it is....

we are their caretakers and owe it to them to provide not only love, but medical treatment...

I would advise driving to the nearest Vet...if you post your area, I can find out which is the closest to you...
