Hi all,

I, again, want to thank you for your interest and your prayers during a very difficult time.

Daisy is doing magnificently. I talked to the vet (who I think would take her home if he could) and he was thrilled to hear the news that she was eating and keeping it down and that she was pooping without a problem, so he released her from prison, lol, and said she could go out without a leash. She was SO funny!! She was like a little banshee running around and playing. Sophie and Serenity and George were all thrilled too so they could harass her with no intervention from Mommy!! lol

She has 2 more days of antibiotics and she gets her stitches out Thursday at 9am.

Thanks again for all of your thoughts!!

No doubt all that good loving, concern and care you and Mike have shown Daisy Mae during her hospitialization and surgery were the reason for her healing so quickly; both physically and mentally! Yipppppppppeee!!! And GD sized hugs for Daisy Mae!! Great, great news Molly!!

Another update. I took Daisy to the vet today to get the staples out and about 1/2 way through, the incision started to open again...NOT GOOD...so he stapled her back up (only part way) and we're going to wait 2 more weeks and see how it goes. He was very impressed by the way she looked though. He really has a thing for her. Although...he's on my list!! (Actually, he's been very nice since I got mad at him) He opened the door to the examining room and said, "OK, Daisy, you can bring Molly back now." LOL He started laughing when he realized what he had said and I gave him SUCH a hard time!!

Ewwww, poor Daisy's tummy isn't holding shut yet and she needs the staples a little while longer? That's too bad, but overall it sounds like she's doing well ... considering what she went through! :D I'm sure she'll be fine for the next visit.

P.S.: That vet sounds pretty funny!

Wow, Daisy! I'm sure sorry your tummy didn't stay closed up! :( That happens to humans too! It was very good that it happened with the doctor right there - and he could zip you shut again!

For all you humans out there, don't ever let a doctor take out staples or stitches too early when it comes to abdomenal surgery! Even though I didn't eat a leash ;) I had the same thing happen to me and it took 10 more weeks of healing and a serious chance of infection before I was ok again.

For pets or humans, ask your doctor to leave staples in place as long as safely possible - you do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT want a surgery site opening up again - The best way to protect yourself is to talk about it before the surgery and make your wishes very clear to the doctor!

Daisy, keep on healing - and have lots of extra (careful) hugs from someone who knows about tummy troubles!
