I can't thank everyone enough for all the kindness, compassion, and understanding in the thread Sirrabed started for me. I wanted to start a new thread so no one would miss my HUGE
THANK YOU
I don't feel as if I deserve it at all. I have been off line for so long and I don't even know what is going on in everyone else's life and here I finally pop back up with sadness and asking for prayers.
Hubby and I are somewhat computer illiterate and couldn't get the thing working. Debbie and Dennis (very dear friends gained through PT) drove almost three hours to our house this weekend to work on the computer. Dennis stayed on the computer until 5am determined to get things going. They left dissappointed because we weren't back on line but thanks to them getting the computer up and running we only had to contact our internet service and they got us back online in seconds! I can not possibly thank them enough!!!
I also can't thank all of you enough for your good thoughts, prayers and words of comfort and kindness. They mean more than you can ever know. The loss of Pete and Scooter has really cut me to the core and I am pretty sure Lucky will probably have to be euthanized tomorrow. That will be three of my furbabies in less than a month.
In less than a two month period I have held twelve shelter babies as they crossed over the Bridge and two of my own. It has been an emotional nightmare and I can't seem to wake up. There is a part of me that wants to quit my shelter work and not have to deal with all this heartache but a stubborn part of me can't leave them. I want to be with those that must leave this world. They know me and trust me and I feel like I have to be the one to hold and comfort them as they go. I always knew that this was a possibility in the shelter but I sure wasn't expecting it to happen to mine. At least not this many at one time.
Lucky is still going down hill and showing no improvement with antibiotics. We kept hoping it was just a bad ear infection that had him so down. He is virtually starving to death. He has not eaten in 10 days. The only nourishment he gets is what I force him to eat through a syringe. His only fluid intake is Sub Q. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow to have his belly tapped for FIP fluid. If any is detected we will have him PTS tomorrow afternoon. I keep praying that we won't have to dig another grave but I'm not real hopeful. :( :( :(
I really don't feel as if I deserve to ask for your prayers but I sure could use them. I thank you all for bringing me back into the fold with such kindness. I really do miss you all so much. I have had so many wonderful and many sad experiences through the shelter that I really wanted to share with you all. Maybe someday I can get caught up with all of you. Please forgive me until then.
Thanks again and {{{HUGS}}} to all of my friends. I really miss you!

Do NOTsay you dont deserve prayers. We are friends here, and love each and every cat regardless of posts. We love you and hope only the best for your cats.
I am so sorry for the loss of your kitties as well as the shelter kitties. It is very hard to lose any companion, ESP. your own.
I DO hope that you continue your shelter work and help to save (or help cross over) as many kitties as possible. Sometimes your kindness is needed in very heartbreaking situations. But the cats that you can not help, would want you to hold them before and while they go to the bridge.
Prayers on the way for your healing, the cats at the shelter, and poor Lucky. You will know when it is time. *HUGS* Katie and kitties
GET BETTER LUCKY! *fingers crossed*

Oh Lisa :(
First of all...WELCOME HOME!!!
My heart is breaking for you and your family. I am so SO sorry you have to endure all the pain and heartache of losing your furbabies. You have been in my thoughts and prayers on a daily basis.
Rescue has it's rewards and it's pitfalls. So many unwanted, abused animals that wait, day in and day out, for someone to love them. Sometimes, when it starts to effect you the way you've described (been there, done that), you have to step back and re-evaluate everything. Those poor precious babies who have to pass over to the Bridge, deserve to have someone to hold them, telling them how much they are loved while they pass, and for that they have you. But you also have to take care of yourself honey, or you won't be any good to anyone. I share this from my personal experience. That's why I had to take a break from volunteering. There are so many of them out there, it can get totally overwhelming. It's like trying to bail out a sinking boat with a teaspoon.
Please take care of yourself, sweetheart. We all love you here at PT and worry about you.
Love and huge ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))

I'm sorry things have been so rough at the shelter. It's easy for those who volunteer to just "step away", but your to be commended being a paid employee to stick it out and make life for all the shelter furry babies good. :)
Glad the computer is back up and running and internet connection seems to be going ok :) :)

Well said, Jen, Welcome home! I am praying for you, Lisa, and all your sweet babies. I pray that Lucky will make a miraculus recovery. If he doesn't, then may he gently crossover.
It sure is good to hear from you, and have you back, I have missed you a lot. So happy you have your computer up and running again. :)

Hello -
There is no such thing as deserving or not deserving prayers. In my estimation, that is one of the things we are called to do for one another, is to send up prayers - always - and most especially when they are asked for. You surely have been through a lot of pain, and you have taken on a terribly painful role for yourself at the shelter. Is there a way that you can find some healing and support for yourself, so that you are not constantly drained of your emotional energy? Take care. I could not do what you are doing.

Lisa!!!! How wonderful to see you back online! :D I'm so sorry, though, that such tragic circumstances are the reason for it. :( I sure hope Lucky pulls through and none of your other kitties get this dreaded disease. :(
However.....did I hear mention of.....bottle baby Tubby was it? Do tell! And pictures too, of course. ;) It's been soooo long - too long - since we've had a brat update and I just know posting pics and bragging about your crew will help you deal with the loss of so many babies in such a short time.
{{{hugs}}} and WELCOME BACK!!!! :D

I can't say enough how wonderful this place is. You have welcomed me "home" with tons of kindness and great words of comfort. PT has always meant so much to me but right now its so important. Where else can you find such a large and loving group of people that can truly understand the pain of losing furbabies. It's really nice to be "HOME" again.
It is with great sadness that I tell you that Lucky was PTS tonight. :( :( :(
He was in such horrible condition that I felt guilty for having let him go this long. I kept hanging on to the hope that he would get better and I'm afraid I made him suffer too long. I guess that doesn't matter now and its over for him.
After Lucky went to the bridge I held another shelter kitty while she crossed over too. She was a petite, sassy little girl with tons of attitude and personality. Her name was Amora but I called her Witchy Poo. A real little stinker she was and she and I had a special bond. I'll have to tell you about her some day. She was such a little hoot. What a shame and so so sad. I hope she and Lucky met up quickly and went over together. What a pair that would be.
I feel totally exhausted and I swear I can't have another tear in my head. I pray over and over for this to end now. I can't bear the thought of losing any more. So far everyone else is looking ok and showing no signs of the illness. God willing this will stop
Thanks again for all your support. I really need it. Hopefully in a few days I will find the energy to share the three newbie brats. Yes, I was miserably failing at fostering again the whole time my computer was down!
Thanks everyone, it's good to be back.

I'm so sorry that Lucky couldn't pull through. I don't blame you for hanging onto some hope that he would get better, especially after so many losses already. And I'm sorry too about little Witchy Poo. I truly hope that this horrible illness has run its course and that no more of your own kitties or the shelter cats will be affected.
Healing hugs to you, and to all your wonderful cats.

I have wanted to volunteer at a shelter for some time now but I don't know if I could do it. I would want to take them all home. I can't believe what you have been through, how awful. I just can't imgaine losing 2 cats and facing losing another one. I don't know what I would do, it would devastate me. Sometimes I think about when my cats get older and what I will do as I lose them, since they are so close in age, it could be one after another, someday. They are young still, the oldest is 6 and the youngest 2 cats are 4 years old.
If you get out of bed , let alone do anything else, after the losses you have had, you are doing very well!
I'm sorry for your losses of your sweet kitty cats. :( :(

OMG!!!! How in the world did I miss this thread.
Lisa I am so, so sorry on your losses and I pray that this is the end of it for you. My heart aches for what you have been through.
With that aside, I just have a few things that I feel I must say to you. It hurt me to read that you don't think you deserve our prayers. Was it your fault that the cats were playing havoc with the wiring...NO. Was it your fault that you had computer problems...NO. Was it your fault that you had phone problems...NO. You have been a big part of PT Lisa and always will. Our dear friend Debbie had kept us updated on your situation and we were so understanding of it all. Also, like RICHARD had said, "You never left."
You deserve our prayers just like everyone one else does, whether you've been here on a regular basis or not. We never forget our friends.
Prayers on the way that things will be all uphill from here on in for you and your furkids.
((((((HUGS)))))) my dear friend. :D

Welcome back! We've missed you. I'm so sorry to hear of all the sadness and loss you are dealing with lately, not only with the shelter kitties, but with a few of your own! I'm so sorry to hear about Lucky's passing. I can't imagine having to deal with the loss 3 of your own cats in less than a month! When my husband and I lost our Leo in August, it really wrecked us emotionally. We adopted a couple more kitties in September, and our house is crazy and full (5, instead of 4, like there were when Leo was alive) again. However, we still think about our wonderful loving Leo and how lucky we were to have shared part of our lives with him, even if it was only a little over 2 years. We are thinking of you at this very difficult time in your life. Sending lots of support and hugs your way. :)
