My beloved Hugo was hit by a car early in the morning on Monday, September 18th in Montreal, Canada. The poor little guy tried to crawl home but could only make it as far as just outside the little gap in the fence to the backyard. He will be dearly missed by many for his affectionate and intelligent character, his fluffy tail and his drooly grins when getting a good, solid, petting. Just a little over a year old, Hugo was taken from us much too soon. He was one of the best beings to ever come into my life. I will miss him.

I am SOOOO sorry for your loss. It pains me to hear of cats killed by cars. :( they should be safely indoors so these things don't happen. :(

RIP Hugo.

Thank you so much for your kind words about Hugo. Any ounce of support helps from those who know what it is like to open the door and subconsciously wait for your best friend to run and greet you until you realize that wait...he's not coming. Even though it is all I think about, constantly, I still haven't adjusted. I hope that it will come with time. What makes me happy underneath the constant onslaughts of teary eyes is that Hugo lived a happy life full of love and adventure and had so many friends. Even the toughest cats in the neighbourhood would play with Hugo, and Hugo would bring his toys outside to share with them, or invite them in if the door was left open for him to saunter in and out. I curse the hole in the fence that went unnoticed by my eyes and allowed Hugo to slip out into the street, but his taste for adventure and inquisitive eyes led him where he pleased. He was an absolute darling with the biggest, most innocent eyes you could imagine. I hope that eventually the nightmares of finding his little body curled beside the fence will subside, but until then I ward them off by imagining Hugo where I know he is right now, stretched out in a patch of autumn sunlight batting at butterflies, and I hope that he can feel my love.

I just wish that people were not in such an all fired hurry.
We have clowns on our street who will just jump in the car, turn the key and zooom, off they go!!
And there are Children and Cats in the neighborhood.
Hugo was a sweet Little Cat, and by now he has his Angel Wings.
He will be a member of the Pet Angel Army , and will have wonderful stories to tell his Guardians when he meets you again at the Rainbow Bridge.
One Fine Day.

I am so sorry for your loss and know how you feel. Your Hugo looks so much like my Persie who's mate, Tuxie Balls, we lost a little over a year ago to a speeding car. Persie was a feral that I spent months feeding and working on getting from our bushes to our porch and the to allow me to pet. Tuxie Balls was a skinny, skinny, semi-feral that was always with her. He became social and extremely affectionate quickly. We had them both spayed and neutered and welcomed them into our cat family. Tuxie Balls didn't want to stay in all the time and really would raise cain to get out. Anytime we were out, he expected to be with us especially if we were grillinig. He was out with us grilling the night he got hit. We think the neighbor two doors down chased him and he ran into the road and get hit. Someone saw him get hit and stopped and found us. We spent that night and the next two days looking for him. I would go to work very early so I could leave early and spend the afternoon and evening looking for him. All I asked God for was to let me find him. He showed up in another neighbor's yard 2 & 1/2 days later. I left work and took him to our vet. She said he would need to have his right leg amputed and his tail if he made it through the night. I/we didn't care if he no tail and one less leg........we loved him. Unfortunately the next morning the vet called and said he had internal injuries and there was nothing to be done. I went and held my baby as he passed on to Rainbow Bridge. I still have the pants I wore looking for him in the woods, my "tuxie pants" and a box of his favorite toys. Our memories comfort, sometimes sadly, but they do,............ let your memories comfort you........

This hit me like a ton of bricks hearing how he tried to crawl home.
God how he must of loved his home and his family.
That's more than most cats in the world had.A loving home.So remember how much you both loved each other and you'll see each other again in the end because the love is so strong.

for the loss your beautiful Hugo. I lost my Shiraz to a car in July of this year and I too had to find her in a horrible way. I still have my cries but I find that by saying hello to her picture and telling her that I still love her tends to help!! I hope Hugo and Shiraz have met up and are having lots of fun at RB.
