E Coli found in spinach

I saw this on the news this morning. I eat a lot of the bagged spinach. I guess I wont be eating that for awhile. :(

This morning I mentioned to my husband what a good salad I had yesterday from the salad bar at a local grocery. He asked if I had spinach....Of course...I love spinach.... then he told me the news.... :D :eek: :D

This stinks. I'm going to a greek festival this weekend. I won't be able to eat Pita knowing that it may have e.coli. :(

Isn't E. Coli killed when you cook the spinach in the pita? And washed off when you wash your spinach? Woops, just read that they say washing is not enough.

But what if the people who made the Pita didn't wash it well enough or cook it at a high enough degree to kill it? I'm not taking any chances. I just got a breaking news email from CNN and the ecoli from the spinach has been reported in Ohio. :eek:

Rats! I just ate the most delicious spinach salad last night, and planned to have the leftovers today. Hey, wait a minute - if it didn't make me sick last night, it should be ok... we've been eating the lasagne I made all week - I used frozen spinach in it.
Also, I wouldn't worry about the Greek food - the spinach does get thoroughly cooked in things like spanikopita.

Yikes, I got some days to go then before I'm out of the woods. I live on this stuff. No cases reported yet in Illinois, but that doesn't really mean a whole lot.

except peas and some green beans,, but sometimes i dont like them.

My very good friend who is like a sister to me. Sent me that. I myself don't eat spinach but i e-mailed it to all my friends and family.

Yep I live in Wisconsin and we've been the biggest hit. Our school serves raw spinach daily in the salad bar, but we've had no cases. The food service had to post warnings and take precautions.
