A Dream Come True X 2 !!!!!

For years I have wanted a purebred Maine Coon cat. I could never justify buying one from a breeder though, while so many moggies were homeless. I told myself that one day the right situation would occur and I would get my Coon kitty in the proper time. Well, not only did I get a Maine Coon, but I got TWO purebred Maine Coons! A young man (in the army) is going through a divorce and had to rehome his two beloved kitties. He has had them since they were baby kittens. They were born in Germany when he was stationed there, and he flew them back to the States with him. They are brothers, and still only a bit over 2 years old. These boys are HUGE, and Maine Coons can still keep growing for 3- 4 years! :eek:

I couldn't be happier for you :D You certainly deserve to have those two beauties. Maine Coons are amazing cats. We were fortunate to have a little coon kitty - Roxy - for 9 years. She was very special and like no other kitty I have ever known. Roxy was beautiful, spirited, loving and oh so affectionate. Our hearts broke when she died at such an early age of kidney failure.

Panda and Sammy are stunning :) They look healthy and well cared for. Congratulations :D

WOW! Those two are GORGEOUS! I LOVE Panda's fluffiness! WOW! WOW! WOW! I'm SO jealous! My vet told me that Maine Coons take the longest to mature of all the breeds and I have to admit I think she's right. At around 6 years old, my Mishi is still very kittenish; albeit a very big, clumsy kitten. I call him my Main Goon. Lucky you! Are these two keepers? Give that fluff some squishes for me, would ya?

Yes they are keepers, and yes they are littermates ... brothers. The guy was so nice, and I know he was hurting by having to give them up. I insured him that I would send him regular updates w/ pictures! I hugged him and wished him well as I left ... and gave him a check although he was sweet enough to not ask for any money for them. He was a very nice young man, left to raise his young infant boy. The poor little fella just clung to me while his daddy was helping my hubby load the car with all of their supplies. I know that little boy is going through so much right now too. It's heartbreaking to watch such precious families have to suffer so much. :(

The little boy was probably about 18 months old, so *hopefully* he won't miss them quite as much as if he were a bit older. Either way though, it is another loss of stability in his life. He was so precious too, he would pat his little hand on my back as I was cuddling him! :(

Laura, I already sent him one e-mail ... telling him we made it home and they were doing well. I'm guessing that he is so busy with work, the military and his little boy, that he doesn't get the luxury to check his e-mail often! :( I will keep sending them though! He even gave me small silver-framed photos of each of them as babies, and each of their parents. How sweet is that???? :)

Not only are those cats GORGEOUS, but their daddy was pretty special, too. You don't hear of a lot of guys moving their pet cats from a foreign country, keeping pictures of them AND their parents, and going to all the trouble to make sure they have a safe, happy furrever home.

My heart goes out to him and his young son. How very sad for all involved.

BUT, the good, happy part is that you have 2 new gorgeous brothers (how wonderful that they can stay together!) and they will be very happy with you.

Plus, you can keep posting pictures of Sammy and Panda and updating us and him!!!

Wow!!!! They're so handsome.:D I've been to many cat shows and I don't think that I've ever seen a Maine Coon with these coat colors or markings. The first one kind of reminds me of my Sky when he was at his fluffiest but Sky is part Norweigian Forest Cat.

Please continue to post pictures and give us updates on them. It sure must have been hard for the man to give these two gorgeous guys up.

Kim, thank you, not only for taking in two more lovely boys, but also for making that young man feel good in that his "babies" will be well cared for. If he bothered to fly them here from Germany, you know that it is because he loves them very much. I'm sure as hard as his departure will be, he will be gratified because he knows that at least two of his "kids" will be properly cared for.

I appreciate all of your nice words! You can sure tell these kitties were pampered! Panda lounges on my bed all day, and Sammy lounges on my clean laundry table ... ummm, right in the middle of the laundry ... of course! ;) They both will come up to me and raise up on their back legs to give me head bumps and nose kisses too ... I am in love already! :D

Sammy is a bit smaller than Panda .... I wish you all could feel their fur, you just want to bury your face in it. In fact, I do that! ;)

Yes, their tails are incredible! They've been very hard for little Sassy to resist! She was the first to meet them, because she is still confined downstairs until she gets all of her shots. There was the usual hissing on their parts at first, but now I think they *might* even like the little stinker, though they aren't admitting it yet! :D
