Sounds like you're really stressed and snappy right now, Kay. :( Have you been sleeping? Probably not well, if you could manage.

Try taking a nap. Take a hot bath.. you need to give yourself a break. For the moment, you've done what you can. Take a break to relax, and start again after.

You and Kiki are still in my thoughts.

Kay, I just wanted to let you know that I am in the process of emailing all the rescues I know around here and asking for help. I've sent pictures of Kiara along to help identify her. I know it's a long shot but anything is worth a try. Keep the faith hon. Ki is close by and it won't be long till you two are re-united. Don't hesitate to PM for anything I might do to help.

Corinna

Amy, since you and Kay have spent so much time together with the 2 dogs, maybe you have some good shots of Ki's chest patch, head and body shots that people could use to help ID if they go to the places to check. I know Kay is spending every mintue (as I would ) out looking and putting flyers out. I know i have a hard time finding old picture threads on the site with all the new changes.
Kay, honey we all love you and are hugging you all day and prayers for Ki too. Don't give up hope she knows you love her and i'm sure shes trying to get back to you. So many people her searching for her too. Quite amazing isn't who would have thought how a silly little web site could pull so many peolpe in to action for one of our own .

I haven't read every thread posted by others, but have you tried craigslist? I see they do have lost/found dogs in there as well.
http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/fl

I've been inspired by stories from Glacier and on other sites, that they've found their dogs after a long period. Thinking of you and Kiara.

I am just about to leave for a weekend away and wanted to check in one more time. I'm going to have hubby check this thread all weekend and call me as soon as she's found (I'm staying positive she'll be found SOON!).

I know these cyber hugs don't help, but I don't know what else to offer.

If you wanted to put the weight on the posters, you could call the vet and ask what they have on record then adjust -up or down- from there.

Here's hoping Kiara comes home soon!

Oh Isobel, those are great shots. I think we could use those to send to local shelters if anyone wants to grab one to e-mail out. I believe Kiara is roughly 18" and around 45-50 pounds? That is a very rough guess though.
Still sending out postive thoughts.

Still praying for you and thinking of you! I can't imagine how these five days have been for you...:(

In an older thread you measured Kiara at 15"....

Kiara is around 15 inches and who knows how many lbs. I'd say maybe 20-25 lbs.

And you can get a good idea of her weight from vet records, like Tonya mentioned.

I hope you don't mind, but I e-mailed your petfinder ad to a nationwide coonhound rescue, thinking that they must have some affiliates in Florida.

I think what people are looking for is that KiKi is not as large a dog as a Rottweiler would be. So if the listing is for a large dog, it would not be Kiara. I would say she is a small-medium size dog weighing about 25-35 lbs. She has long legs but a very slim build. I am trying to think of a breed of dog she would be the SIZE (Height) of - she is smaller than a dalmation, a lab, a doberman, a rott, a husky, an airdale, bigger than a schnauzer, beagle, miniature poodle, - I'm sorry I can't come up with any breed she would be close to. Just a nice medium size dog. If that helps anyone.

Praying for you Kay.

A lady called and said she saw a dog similar to Ki running around the park in her neighborhood yesterday morning. So, we went there a bit ago with Nala and I walked around it for a while. No luck.
Passed out fliers around that area, posted a few signs.

Going to go around that neighborhood in a bit, just stopped by to eat and feed the dogs.

I also think it is important to describe her as smaller than a rottie since calling her a rottie mix sounds big. A taller, thinner beagle with rottie coloring? Whippets are a little smaller than Kiara with a similar shape the only problem is, and I know from experience, most people ask what's a whippet?

As mentioned by someone else I think it's a good idea to look in backyards and windows (from a distance of course!).

Kiara is a little smaller than Sadie but very close in size. Sadie is about 17in high and 36lbs. A picture next to an object of known size might be more helpful to non-dog owners for whom numbers don't mean much.

I wish I could walk the streets of your neighborhood calling for her rather than sitting here thinking of how to describe her. My thoughts are with you and I hope this nightmare ends soon.

There was a dog missing in the woods up North in NH last year. She heard from people that they saw a dog fitting her description hanging out near a certain area of the woods. So this woman went there and left some of her dirty clothes (clothes she had worn - not cleaned). Apparently, the dog picked up the scent and stayed where the clothes were. The woman went to see if her dog was there, and sure enough he was.

If you think that was your dog at the park, why don't you try leaving some of your clothes there? She may hang around a familiar scent and when you go back to the park, she may be there.

It's worth a shot. Good luck.

May not be a bad idea to take some of her tennis balls or favourite toys as well. If Kiara is alone out there, something familiar will give her some hope too. Anything is worth trying.

Another thought - I remember not so long ago someone on the Cat Board posted about luring her lost kitty home by sitting quietly and talking to her. It may be a long shot but it might work.

Good luck Kay and don't lose hope - KiKi will come home to you.

Hugs,
Betty

Checking in again...

The clothes idea is a really good one.... Pair it with some of her tennis balls, maybe?

I can't think of much to say but I'm praying for her safe return. You've got a ton of leads, I'm sure one of them has to be her. Good luck, Kay. I know you'll get through this and at the end of the tunnel there will be a cute little KiKi.
