How well do your dogs and cats get along?

How well do your dogs get along with your cats? How do your cats get a long with your dogs?

The dogs mostly ignore the cats.

Sundae loves the dogs, she often curls up with them and sleeps with them. She rubs on them all the time.

Raisin loves Bitsy. Raisin sometimes follows Bitsy around and rubs on her. Raisin tolerates the other dogs, but never goes up to them.

Oliver doesn't really like the dogs. He usually stays in one of the dog-free parts of the house.

Jimmy and Kitten both tolerate the dogs. They don't avoid the dogs, but they don't rub and love on the dogs either.

Beanie thinks he's a cat. every time there are kittens at the house he carries them around and tries to nurse them.

Gracie would rather have them for lunch.

They tolerate each other, somewhat. The cats are still somewhat wary of Roscoe, so they try to steer clear of him. He gets a little jealous of them sometimes, like when they cuddle with me, so if he sees them with me sometimes he'll get up and walk over, knowing that they will jump down and run away. I'm working on them, it's getting better, but I doubt that they will ever be best friends.

Bella doesn't pay any attention to them at all. Occasionally Ripley will *play bite* at the air around them and make a silly fake growling sound to try and get them to play or at least react to him. :rolleyes: The cats are totally unfazed, especially Trevor who doesn't even bother to look at him. Andy lays there and occasionally bats a paw at him. There are really no problems at all. In my house Trevor and Andy are bonded to each other and Bella and Ripley are bonded to each other. They don't seem to cross those species lines. :)

Kyra and the kitties play a lot, it's cute watching Kyra play with Jasper becuause he's bigger than her! The cats don't really pay much attention to the other dogs and visa versa.

We have very strict cat - dog interaction rules around here. The cats are indoor only and the house is their domain. If the dogs want to be inside, they have to leave the cats alone. There is no interaction allowed. The dogs are not allowed to play with cats ever. A dog in the house gets one warning for showing too much interest in a cat. Second offense leads to a quick trip to the door. The dogs are never, ever left unsupervised with the cats. For the most part the dogs learn the house rules pretty quick and are fine.

Kayleigh has never learned that the cats are not snacks. She is not allowed inside, but has unrestricted access to the heated shop. She's never learned that the other dogs aren't snacks either so this arrangement keeps everyone safe and happy.

Deuce would kill the cats given a chance. When he comes inside, he is confined to the porch.

Boots loves the dogs and gets quite ticked with me when I move him away from them. He especially adores Mac! It makes Mac very nervous when Boots starts giving him headbutts. Mac knows he's not supposed to touch the cats, but he doesn't know what to do when the cat touchs him!

Kasha truly despises the dogs. She hisses, spits and swats them if they even look at her. Even blind ol' Preacher has learned to figure out where Kasha is and gives her a wide berth!

Inside the cats are safe. Any outdoor cat in my yard is dead, in seconds, as Dominique's death attests to. THe dogs had known Dominique for over five years. They still killed her when she escaped the confines of the house.

Basically Seine (the cat) is in charge. She and Marta are good friends, she loves to play and snuggle with her. Adele is her chew toy- she likes to bite, pounce, and bat at Adele, who just stands there and wags her tail and looks confused. She and Vallis mostly ignore each other.

Tiki is in love with Nanook & Kaige. Tiki's quite fond of the other dogs too but doesn't have that special bond that he has with Nook or Kaige. Kaige is his play buddy and Nanook is his napping buddy. Although I woke up this morning to see that Raustyk & myself were his sleeping buddies last night. lol

Meko LOVES to go on walks around the park with the dogs and is sometimes caught sleeping with Raustyk, other than that she just tollerates them.

Pickles is just learning to tollerate them. He used to despise them.

My dogs sense each cat's reaction/personal preference. For instance Indy & Kaige are good at leaving Meko alone where Nook & Raustyk keep an eye out for a good cuddle.
Kaige always keeps his eyes open for wrestle mania with Tiki yet the others wait for Tiki to come to them.
Everyone avoids Pickles as they would always get swatted at if they came within 15 feet of him. :rolleyes: Pickles has meelowed out a LOT but the dogs don't want any part of it.

I wouldn't say they're best friends and definetley wouldn't say they hate eachother. They tolerate eachother, Jen rubs against their legs and they don't chase her.

Chloe and Raven are best friends..malakai and raven pretty much ignore each other 90% of the time.

Spanky (Chihuahua) *LOVES* to play and cuddle with the cats. Soni and Isis do not enjoy this but tolerate it anyways. They give her a warning swat when they've had enough. :D :p

All the dogs like the cats. They don't go out of their way to snuggle them or anything, but they don't completely ignore them, either.
Melani and Kayla dislike the dogs... as in all dogs aside from Frisk. Everyone loves Frisk. ^__^

Mine get along great. I don't let the dogs" play" with the cats at all, but
the cats will lay next to the dogs if they are napping. They have learned to
coexist very well.

I'm not really sure how to answer the poll. If you were to ask Payson what he thought of the cats I'm sure he would tell you that the kitties are his best friends! Now, if you asked the cats I'm sure that they would say that Payson is the worlds biggest pest!

Overall they get along well, it's actually fun to watch them interact. The cats are all kind of mean to Payson, they swat at him all the time. However Payson thinks they are playing and gets excited and tries to play with them. Then the cats just get annoyed and run away.

However overall I'd have to say that they get along well seeing as how we have never had any problems.

My dogs and cats always been unsupervised with each other. We never had a problem with them being together and I trust them 150%. Even after Autumn has killed squirrels and mice outside, she won't hurt the stray cats in the neighborhood. Often the cats get the better of the dogs.
