About a month ago, Ralph found Sadie has two growths, one on her right shoulder, in the collar bone area, one on the inside of the back leg. The vet gave us the option of having them removed, or just watching them for few months and looking for changes. Both are too small to take a sample and determine if what they are.

We have decided to have them removed, to find out what they are, rather then taking a chance and letting them get out of control. We have scheduled this for Sept 1, as Ralph and I are both on vacation the whole following week and can be home to keep an eye on her.

Please keep Sadie in your thoughts and prayers for a succesful surgery, quick recovery and that the lumps are nothing more then fatty tumors.

Awww, Sadie, baby, we know how upsetting and obvious lumps are on smooth-coated, sleek girls. You be good for Sir Jury, and soon you'll be back to the happy, shiny, lumpfree girl we know! :)

I will keep Sadie in my prayers for a successful surgery & no after effects.
I hope they turn out to be no more serious than fatty cells.

Okay, Amy and just why am I reading this on Pet Talk. You know where I am and I am pretty sure you have your sister's phone number. If not, I absolutely for sure know you have my cell number.

Sorry that Sadie has to have the surgery. Does this mean you won't be coming to the Dog Park on Sunday? By the way, I have a doctor's appointment in Toledo on Friday, so after I will get a hold of you and see how Sadie is doing.

I know you are worried, that Sadie is your first "child" but she will be okay. And we will all be praying for her.

Talk to you later. Mom

I've just got to post.

I thought , how wonderful it is , to see a Mom reply to her daughter's thread.

This could only happen, on Pet Talk, of course.

Cincy'smom~~~~~ You are so lucky!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoooo-Boy!

 Momma!

Even though MY Mom never read Pet Talk, nor had a cell phone ...
I sure heard THAT lecture enough times! :o

A favorite opening, after SHE had called me, was:
"Hello Dear - Have you forgotten my phone number!?" :(

Oooopsie!

MEMO: CALL your Mother!

Ralph just got a call from the vet. Sadie is out of surgery and awake. She did very well.

The lump on her chest was obviuosly a fatty tumor. That has been removed. The one on her leg also appears to be a fatty tumor, however it was a bit more nodular so they are going to send it for a biopsy just to be sure. She also got a good ear cleaning!

She will be home this afternoon. Next challenge...keep her "calm" for two weeks!!!

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts.

Glad things went well! I hope the biopsy comes back as just a fatty tumor. Take it easy the next couple of weeks Sadie!

Hmmm - two weeks of quiet? That will be an accomplishment. Can you ban all tennis balls from Northwestern Ohio for two weeks as a precaution?

Ralph has picked up Sadie and they are at his mom's. She seems to be just fine, and was trotting around the back yard. Yeah, keeping her calm will be the challenge!!!

I didn't call my mom, but she was in Toledo for an appointment. Sounds like she checked in with Ralph after that, so she has been updated!

Well, Sadie decided she didn't need any staples, so she tried to take them out herself yesterday  Ralph took her to the vet, and they went ahead and removed them. They didn't re-close the wond, said it seemed to ahve healed pretty good so far, and gave him an antibiotic cream to put on twice a day and an oral anitbiotic. She also got a new, longer cone for her head!

On a positive note, we got the results of the biopsy today, and the spot on her leg was scar tissue build up, no signs of cancer.
Yeah!!!!

Gosh Sadie, those staples sure can be itchy, can't they? Good thing your daddy helped you out & took you to the vet so they could finish the job. ;) Bet mom & dad both breathed a sigh of relief at the biopsy results! Be good and take it easy for a few days, sweetie.

You can always do what Bear does, rip the cone to shreds, then sit there looking proud when the humans come home. You must be breathing a sigh of relief with those results...yeh!!

I'm glad Sadie is doing better!! I know Sox hates stitches/staples too. We had to resort to an E-collar the last time!
