Thumper, one of my FIV+ cats, slipped through the sliding door to my back deck this noon-time as I tried to carry out garbage and block both Luke and Pete from dashing out. I thought he'd investiage the deck, where he has never been allowed before because the FIV+ cats don't go out, and then wait for me, so I dropped the garbage to the side of the house first. But he jumped down.

I wasn't too concerned because he just walked around the garden and came to the side of the raised deck when I called him. But Thumper has unusually short legs and couldn't jump up; my three outdoor/indoor cats have no problem. The deck is enclosed and not an exit to the garden. By the time I had gone back upstairs and walked down from the garage with an old drawer that he could use as a spring board, he had simply gone. I've been looking for him ever since.

He's been in a shelter most of his life, with me for about four months now, and not outside for at least 5 years. He can't have the rabies vaccine because of his poor immune system. Every time I hear a slight noise outside, I rush downstairs and onto the deck with a smile on my face, sure that he's come back, but he hasn't. I walked round the garden and surroundings frequently until it was dark. I go out on both my upper and lower decks about every ten minutes, calling him calmly and shaking a bowl of dry food. Nothing.

I keep putting my head in my hands and trying to send out thoughts to him, daft as that is, asking him to please come home. He's one of my favorite cats, a real character.

Please come home, Thumper, and be safe and well.

Oh no...I would hope he is just hiding, and will come out when it's light.

Could he be hiding under the deck?

PRAYERS for your precious boy to come home SOON!

HUGS!

He's not under the deck, it's not enclosed underneath and is high enough off the ground that I can see through it. What is really frustrating me right now is that my neighbors left their dalmation on their deck while they went out for the evening and every time I go out to call Thumper, he starts barking. He wasn't out there when Thumper escaped, so I've no idea if Thumper is afraid of him or not, no idea if that is putting him off coming to the house.

My garden backs onto a wild area, which is great fun for the indoor/outdoor cats, but I don't want Thumper to have fun out there all night, we have plenty of wildlife.

Poor Thumper....! It is so scary when one of the cats doesn't come home when it is darker; I've had this 2 times with Zazou. Both times she came back in the morning.
I hope that Thumper is coming home soon too; maybe he is too overwhelmed now by everything he sees, and by that barking dog. Cannot you ask your neighbour to keep the dog indoors till your Thumper is back?

Please Thumper, hurry home!!

The Pet Angel Search and Rescue Squad is on the case, and with such crack trackers as the Tubbies, Moose, Ralph Syracuse, Lucas and Nugget, they should find Thumper and have him home ASAP!!!

Thank you, everyone, for your concern about Thumper. I was beating myself up, crying, wondering if he would disappear and what I would do, etc. and it seems he was having a whale of a good time. I had slept very little on Friday night and planned to drop into bed early on Saturday, so by 12:30am I'm practically asleep on my feet when I went downstairs to check for what has to be the last time. There he is, at the glass door, not banging on it, not crying, looking as though he does this every day. When I huigged him, practically smothering him I must admit, his attitude was very "Hey, mum, gerroff. Where's the food?" He'll be shut in a bedroom in future when I have to go out onto the deck, and Luke in the bathroom or maybe Pete since Luke bites.

I'm so glad to hear Thumber is back inside. :) I know what it feels like - Fister has done it few times too, had to go down in the middle of night to get him in, but he was having great time, while I couldn't sleep.

I think he's learned his lesson, for now anyway. He was sleeping soundly in the bedroom when I let out Taranis (who can go out and needs the exercise) and he didn't stir at all. Now, of course, I'm going to start worrying that he's going to get sick even though he ate a good breakfast. Sigh! You are right, K.Kitties, they revel in giving us heart attacks and ulcers.

Now that you have given me my heart attack for the day since I started at the beginning and not the last post. Thank God Thumper came back!

I knew that with Tubby 2, the Rescue Cat on the job, that Thumper was safe.
Maybe thats why he was needed at the Rainbow Bridge.
