http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v414/Doolittleky/Joshheadundersheet.jpg Last night when I got home I immediately noticed something was wrong with Josh(one of my diabetics). He wasn't responding to me calling his name, he was hunched down walking, not standing up. He reminded me of a possum how they look around like they can't see. I had borrowed a friend's cell phone since my broke and I went to try and call the vet andthat cell phone said out of service and the battery wouldn't hold a charge. So I put Josh in a carrier and headed for the vet at 10:00 at night. On the way there I finally got a signal and told them I was coming. They admitted him stright in and told me they woudl call me. I called them later that night because the phone continually said no service most of the time and I was afraid they would try and call and not get me. They said they did a blood glucose and it was normal so it wasn't that. they did a chest xray whihc I finally found out this afternoon since the cell phone wouldn't give me a signal after the first time I called them. Josh has an enlarged heart. I went to visit him today and he was much better. They have him on lotensen whihc is one of the meds Toby had been on. They ahven't given him an insulin since without it his BG is ok now. That of course can change. I hope he stays off of it though. I was asking the vet how to you know they have this condition. She said you don't without an xray. She said sometimes a cat will jsut lay down and go to sleep and never wake up. She said there was a lady that came in the other day with her cat. It had greeted her at the dooor , walked away and fell down dead. She said you can tell there is a problem with their breathing. Last night Josh was breathing with his abdomen. He still is alittle today but it is much better. If there are no problems i will get to take him home tomorrow. Please pray for him.

Melissa - what a shock to find Josh sick when you got home, it must have been really distressing for you. There's nothing quite like rushing off to the emergency vet in the middle of the night to make your heart pound. I'm very glad that his diabetes is still under control and that they were able to give you a med for Josh that will keep his heart relatively healthy. I bet you are missing him tonight and can't wait to have him back with you. He's a lovely cat with pretty eyes and a perfectly pale pink nose.

I'm glad you were able to get Josh to the vet. The vets around here often use beta blockers or other blood pressure meds for cats with heart trouble, and they work really well.

I picked Josh up today from the vet. He is not on insulin right now so i have to watch his water intake etc. I have to take him back in a week to have his blood glucose checked. He is on Lotensin. I hope he does ok. I sure did miss him while he was at the vet's.
