:( :(
He's not eating again...and it's been 3 (4?) days. Once in a while he'll take a couple bites of food, or a tiny piece of ham..but for the most part he's not eating. He threw up twice this morning, both times a yellowish liquid. He is still drinking.
I am soooooo worried, a couple weeks ago he stopped eating for a couple days but started right back up again. But now he's refusing treats and other goodies, he's lost about 5 pounds :(
I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow morning, wish us luck? :(

Just got back from the vets :( They're not sure whats wrong at this point, his temp is normal but he's extremely lethargic, and my guess was right, he's lost 5 pounds :( They kept him for now, I can go pick him up between 3 and 5 later today, they're doing bloodwork and possibly x-rays.
If possible, could you keep my little boy in your thoughts? I'm here crying like crazy, I don't know what to expect. :(

the yellowy fluid is gastric acid, he threw up that cause he has no food to throw up........it sound like a stomach problem, or maybe some obstruction, hopefully nothing serious, just keep him hydrated, adn let´s hope that if they do take x-ray they´ll get a better view of whats going inside and fix that.......hugs to you and little Micki

:( I just went and visited him, unfortunatly can't bring him home till 5 :( He was VERY happy to see me though! :D
They did some bloodwork and he came back with high kidney functions. He's on an IV right now.
All I can think about is my Aunt's pomeranian last summer. Same thing happened, kidney levels were high and a couple weeks later she had deteriorated so much they had to put her down. :( :( :(
They gave me lots of canned science diet (ewwwwwww) for tonight and try to get him to eat that. And a couple Amoxi pills.
They're not sure of the cause, and theres a few diseases that it could be.
They want him back first thing in the morning tomorrow for IVs too.
I am sooo scared. He's just a baby...I need my Boogerman :( Thanks for the thoughts/prayers guys ((Hugs))

The outlook really doesn't look too well, I'm afraid :( I've been researching kidney failure for the last couple hours on the net and everything just seems to fit. First signs of increased water intake and urine production. He has been peeing in the house like crazy for the last couple weeks and we blamed it on my lazy siblings for not letting him out enough. I feel like an awful mother :( :( I should have realized something was wrong with him. And then signs of progressed kidney failure include vomiting, depression, refusing food, and bad breath. Everything fits. They flushed out his system with an IV and normal function may return for a few weeks/years, or no function at all...
But theres part of me (okay, all of me) thats hoping the bloodwork came back with high kidney levels just because he was dehydrated at the time...and he'll be okay...but that wouldn't explain why he stopped eating.
He is home now, and laying next to me. I have no idea whats going to happen. I have to bring him back tomorrow morning for additional blood work and more fluids.
Thanks for thinking of us, guys.

Metoclopromide to help control any nausea. Ask them for the appropriate dose of Zantac (rantidine) which you can buy OTC at any Walmart. The Vets may IV in some phosphorous binders tomorrow, and place the dog on an anti-hypertensive drug to help the kidneys function. You may have to keep him on the Hills k/d diet, with no added sources of phosphorous (e.g. bones) for the remainder of his life. Low protein diet but of high quality - hydrolized.

Poor Micki :( The news doesn't sound good & I'd be worried too, but
lets hope the Vet discovers this is something that can be fixed, or at least
controlled with meds.I'll keep you both in my prayers for better news to

Thanks again everybody, it really means a lot to me.
We just dropped him off for another round of fluids this morning and got a chance to talk to the doctor a bit more. His kidney failure could be from a bacterial source or genetic, from trauma, poisoning, and theres probably more. If its just bacterial he can be on antibiotics and have a chance of recovery...if its something else the options really aren't that great. He'd have to go in every couple days for fluids for the rest of his life, and if he'll be as miserable as he is now, I really don't want to put him through that :( :( We still can't get him to eat anything, I tried even force feeding him last night and the would immediately spit it out. I think I'm going to try making a canned food drink that I can syringe in him later when he gets home, or else he's slowly going to starve himself to death :(
So pleeeease pray its curable and a bacterial thing! We should know by Monday.

Ask the Vet to give your dog a shot of Zofran shortly before returning him to you. Or get the shot now. Wait an hr and try offering the can food. If that restores appetite then ask for a precription of Zofran pills. It is expensive, but will suppress all nausea. Also ask for a referral to a specialist for a second opinion as to treatment.

I didn't see your post before we went dragondawg :/ but I'll ask him about it, thanks!
Well, they said that Micki's bloodwork today came back "exceptionally well" so the possibility of being poisoned is quite unlikely at this point. He's also feeling better, which is a good sign. Today while he was at the vets he chewed through his IV, barked constantly and rubbed his nose raw trying to get out :( BUT, those are very good signs! Yesterday he layed there all morning, so today was an improvement. They gave him a shot of antibiotics and some pills to restore appetite. He'll go back Monday (or Tuesday) for additional bloodwork and see if he'll need another round of fluids. He said that if Micki returns to normal within the first week of treatment, the outlook is very good for him...so for now its just a wait and see with check ups throughout the week.

Micki sorry to hear you are sick get well soon!
My Sadie is living with kidney disease due to old age and she is doing well on a special diet. It sounds like Micki's is quite sudden and I assume he isn't old? I hope it is just some bacteria infection that can be cured. If he does need to deal with kidney disease I found a lot of info at www.dogaware.com.

I had to drop him back off again this morning. He's lost another pound since Friday. He still hasn't eaten anything on his own, I liquified some of the canned food yesterday and had to syringe it in him every couple hours, and even then he spit most of it out :( They're doing another IV today, and more bloodwork.

I am so sorry to hear what your going through. I had a very similar situation last March. On Thanksgiving my DH rescued a boxer for me as my Christmas present, he was 3 months old. He did great the first few months he was here and right around the time he turned 7 months he took a bad turn for the worst. In a less than a week he deteriorated to almost nothing, refused to eat or drink, stopped going potty as often, had a retched odor from his mouth and a retched smelling discharge from his nose and mouth. I had him seen by my vet and when they ran tests they concluded he was going through kidney failure...7 months old? How could that be I thought! I thought I was the worst mom in the world for letting my baby get sick and even worse for not knowing how. They ran a lot of tests and the doctor said it wasn't anything chemical so he didn't ingest anything poisenous or anything. That relieved me to some extent until he told me that what my pup had was a kidney disease that occurs in small (he said like 3%) percentage of pups and it develops around the age of 6/7 months, is terminal and absolutely incurable. He said there was no amount of money or treatment I could do to save him. I thought to get a second opinion but he got so sick so fast that my boss, who is also a vet, suggested that maybe we should have him put to sleep because of how badly he was suffering. I cried just watching my poor baby, it was horrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone...somedays I would just lay with him and cry and whisper to him and say it would be alright. The worst part of everything was when I finally carried him into the vet (by the end of the week he had lost mobility) he looked up at me and started wagging his tail-like he didn't even know what was going to happen. I still feel rotten for letting him go and think I will always wonder about the what if's....
It's a very difficult thing to deal with, especially when our babies get so extremely sick and there isn't anything we can do about it. I am praying for you and your baby...I didn't want to bring you down with my story, I just wanted to share my experience and anytime I can talk about it, it helps me heal just that much more. You have a huge support system (both online and at home I am sure) so just know we are all here for you and are hoping for the best....
